A Formation Invitation from St. Martin's
. St. Martin's Episcopal Church on East Seventh Street invites St. Peter's parishioners to participate in Education for Ministry (EfM) classes that will begin a new year in September. EfM is a study and reflection program that comes from the University of the South at Sewanee, Tenn. It is a four-year program that one may take one year at a time, and is what its name suggests: education for ministry. Over the four-year period, participants gain a better understanding of the Old and New Testaments, Church History, and Christian Ethics to prepare for lay ministry in congregations and the world. It is not simply a program for individual spiritual development, but one designed to prepare participants to serve. St. Martin's will offer participants a choice from three different EfM sessions, each week: Tuesdays, 7:00-9:30 p.m.; Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m.-Noon; and Wednesday, 7:00-9:30 p.m. The cost for the year is $375, and scholarships are available, if cost may be a hardship. If you are interested, (light green) forms are available in the St. Peter's Parish House lobby or visit the "Education" tab at
. Registration forms must be received by the end of June. For more information, contact EfM mentor Father Armand LaVallee at 704-573-0129, co-mentors Angie Forde (
