Embracing the Spirit:

A Farewell Tribute to Rev. D Littlepage

Join Us in Honoring a Legacy of Faith and Leadership!

As we prepare to bid a fond farewell to Rev. D Littlepage, the heart and soul of Trinity Church Hartford, we reflect on the profound impact of their exceptional leadership and unwavering spiritual guidance. Rev. D’s uplifting sermons and steadfast faith have been a beacon of inspiration, guiding us through moments of joy and challenges alike.

In celebration of this remarkable journey, we invite you to join us in expressing our deepest gratitude. Let’s come together to acknowledge the gifts of service, acts of love, and sacramental presence that Rev. D has graciously shared with Trinity Church. Your contribution to Equality CT in their honor will not only be a testament to the profound impact of their ministry but also a meaningful way to support causes close to their heart.

You can make a difference by going to www.trinityhartford.org/equalityct or mail a check to S.E.E.’s office:

Social & Environmental Entrepreneurs

Thank you for being a part of this special tribute. Let’s celebrate Rev. D and the transformative journey we’ve shared. We look forward to seeing you at the February 4th service and farewell coffee hour!

With gratitude,

The Vestry of Trinity Church Hartford

Run for Refugees - Sunday

February 11, 2024

On Sunday, February 11, The Run for Refugees will take place in New Haven. Kate Smith will participate in person and Drew will do his 5K in our neighborhood (Virtual.) It is a Sunday morning! This event is the major fundraiser for IRIS (Integrated Refugee Immigration Services) that helped train and work with the volunteers that settled “our” Syrian and 2 Afghan families. We are also honoring Chris George, the Director, who is retiring. You can support Kate and Drew’s efforts by going to their webpage: https://www.classy.org/fundraiser/5204048

If you’d like to participate, let me know at kate48smith @ comcast.net . It’s a great day with lots of food prepared by settled refugees.

Ahli Arab Hospital Perseveres In Gaza

Despite extraordinary setbacks and extreme circumstances, Ahli Hospital and its resilient, heroic staff remain a beacon of hope in war-torn Gaza. Please take a moment to read the January 2024 newsletter found at www.Trinityhartford.org/ahliarabhospital

Thank you. Kate Smith

Women Together: a group that gathers weekly to explore our Christian faith and practice through book discussion, prayer and fellowship meets on Tuesdays from 2:00 to 3:15pm in the reception room at St. John’s (679 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, CT).

Our book discussion is on Life in Light: Meditations on Impermanence by Mary Pipher, 2002.

The books we choose are usually available at libraries, amazon.com and other booksellers. WT has been attended by women from St. John’s, Trinity, St. James and St. Monica’s. Please contact Linda MacGougan or Cathy Rowe if you would like additional information.

Trinity Church Book Group - February Pick

Trinity's Book Group's current selection is the nonfiction book What is Life? by Paul Nurse, "the Nobel prize-winning scientist's elegant explanation of the fundamental ideas in biology and their uses today." Anne Rapkin and Steve Zhitnik will host the meeting at their home on March 1st, 7:00-9:00 pm. All are welcome to attend! Please let Anne or Steve know if you're coming. (anne.rapkin @ gmail.com; s.zhitnik @ snet.net) The meeting begins with refreshments and then launches into lively discussions.

Casserole Ministry

If you are in a situation where it is difficult to make meals--whether because you or a loved one is hospitalized or ill, or a death or birth in the family, or for any other reason--please remember Trinity Church's Casserole Ministry. The Ministry can provide prepared meals during your time of need, and also do food shopping or pharmacy runs if those would help.

If you would like help from the Casserole Ministry, please do not hesitate to let the office know or to directly contact Anne Rapkin at 860-521-5992 or anne.rapkin @ gmail.com.

Saheba's Dressmaking

The adult woman in one of the refugee families resettled by Trinity's Refugee Resettlement Committee is an experienced and accomplished seamstress and dressmaker. She is open for business at her home in West Hartford, off of Farmington Avenue. Saheba Dadwall not only does all types of garment repairs and alterations, but she can create from scratch that dress or other clothing you'd like, and also creates and repairs other fabric items such as curtains, tote bags, and decorative pillows. Saheba has done repairs and complex alterations for some Trinity members, and they can vouch for her superior work and rapid completion of jobs.

If you would like to make an appointment with Saheba, please contact Anne Rapkin, 860-521-5992 or anne.rapkin @ gmail.com.
