Giving Envelopes - Update
For a second year, the supply chain backup has impacted Trinity Church!
And we know from parishioner reporting, it’s not just our church! Other churches are affected.

We do not expect our Envelope order until late-January. The office will send you an email when they arrive. If you need some spare envelopes to tide you over, please contact Barbara in the office. In the meantime, please remember to write your envelope # on your check. If you’re not sure of it, you can log into your profile on Realm and check it out, or you can call Barbara. We apologize for the delay.
Bible Study and Discussion
Please join us for conversation about the Sunday readings during the season of Epiphany. We will gather over Zoom on Tuesdays, beginning January 17 at 5:30 PM and ending at 6:30 PM when we will discuss the readings from the 2nd Sunday after the Epiphany, (go to trinityhartford.org for Sunday’s bulletin). The series will conclude on Tuesday, February 21. You may attend all or some of the sessions. All are welcome! If you have any questions, please contact Roy McAlpine.

(Meeting ID: 857 1776 4576

Vestry meetings are open to any member of the parish. Members of the parish are especially invited to bring concerns and feedback to the Vestry during the “Feedback from Congregation” section of the meeting which begins at about 7:20/7:30. (The first 15-20 minutes of the meeting are a time of reflection and connection).
Members who choose to do so are welcome to come only to the beginning of the meeting to share concerns or are welcome to stay for the entire meeting. Please note that if there are conversations that are confidential in nature, visitors to the meeting will be asked to excuse themselves for that portion and then will be invited back in.
Sunday January 29, Sermon and Forum Topic:
Discovering our historic complicity in racism in our parish and community.
In 2020 the ECCT Convention resolved that every parish “take steps to discover and document historic complicity in racism in their parish and communities”. On Sunday, January 29th, we will present our discoveries arising from this Resolution during the sermon. During the Adult Forum that same Sunday we will meet to share questions, voice experiences and emotions arising from the report, as well as to capture what we believe as a community of faith are the appropriate next steps. We will also display key photos and documents that informed our report. Please come and learn about both the history of racial injustice in the community of Hartford as well as the complex history of our own parish.
Please join us in person or online for the sermon, the forum will be held in person only.
Prayer List
Should you like a name added to the Prayer List, please contact Barbara in the office at office at Trinityhartford.org or 860-527-8133 ext. 204.
Please note that unless the office is otherwise notified, the name will be on the list for 4 weeks and then removed.
Outreach Ministries Gathering - January 31
This is an invitation to anyone interested in outreach ministries to meet in the church library on Tuesday, January 31 at 7:00 PM.
Trinity's Outreach Ministry supports many organizations with whom we have relationships - some as close as here in Hartford, others around the world. Ideas for new opportunities to share God's love in this way are encouraged and welcomed.
Please come for an update on what we are doing, and to share what types of new ministries you are interested in pursuing - how we put our faith into action through outreach ministries.
Questions or suggestions? You may contact Penny Pearson, convener for the January gathering. (pennypearson@comcast.net or 860-243-0020)
Call for Annual Reports for
Trinity Church Annual Meeting – June 4, 2023

WHAT?!?!?! It isn’t May yet!

Although our annual meeting is in June, the reports are based on calendar year. This year we are getting an early start. In order to capture the year as it has just been finished, Barbara will be reaching out in the next couple of weeks to the various ministries along with their last year’s report. Due date for reports to be in the office will be Monday, February 13. Any questions, please contact Barbara in the office.
Women Together...a group that gathers weekly to explore our Christian faith and practice through book discussion, prayer and fellowship. We meet on Tuesdays from 2:00 to 3:15pm in the reception room at St. John’s (679 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, CT).

We have begun reading Ladder to the Light, An Indigenous Elders Meditations on Hope and Courage by Steven Charleston ©2021. Steven Charleston is a Choctaw elder and Episcopal priest who offers words of hard-won hope, rooted in daily conversations with the Spirit and steeped in Indigenous wisdom. Native America knows something about cultivating resilience and resisting darkness. For all who yearn for hope, Ladder to the Light is a book of comfort, truth, and challenge in a time of anguish and fear.

The books we choose are usually available at amazon.com and other booksellers. WT has been attended by women from St. John’s, Trinity, St. James and St. Monica’s. Please contact Linda MacGougan or Cathy Rowe if you would like additional information.
For more information go to campwashington.org.
