21 February 2021
Almighty God, whose blessed Son was led by the Spirit to be tempted by Satan: Come quickly to help us who are assaulted by many temptations; and, as you know the weaknesses of each of us, let each one find you mighty to save; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

We are so glad that you are joining us as we continue to try new ways of worshipping together. As we journey through the cycle of trying something new, listening to and reflecting on our experiences, and adjusting things for a new try, we acknowledge that the changes may cause some confusion and perhaps frustration. We hope that you are still able to find joy in worshipping God in community, and we encourage you to reach out to Rev. D (860-986-3289 or dlittlepage at trinityhartford.org) to share your thoughts and experiences.

Last Sunday after Epiphany -- 14 February 2021
Open Forum on Racism in Healthcare
February 21, After the 10 am Service

The COVID-19 pandemic provides a dramatic example of a longstanding problem in American society: racial disparities in health care. Many of us have a general sense that there are unfair differences by race in health care needs, availability, and outcomes. But what are the facts? And what are the experiences of our friends and neighbors?

Please join us after the service on February 21 for a special forum on this important topic. Members of the Trinity Community for Racial Justice will provide facts and figures about the nature and scale of this problem. There will also be an opportunity for participants to share their own lived experience in receiving and providing health care.

Ash Wednesday, 17 February 2021.

Rooted in Hope in a Time of Anxiety: A Day for Laity

Saturday, February 27 from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Are you growing weary of life in “COVID-time?” Would you benefit from a Lenten Retreat?
Join our bishops and laity from across ECCT for a day of spiritual refreshment and learning. Living in the midst of chronic anxiety impacts all of us; our relationships with our children, spouses/partners, family, friends, colleagues, and faith communities. Together we will learn about the predictable ways humans react to chronic anxiety from Dr. David Olsen, a nationally recognized expert on the impact of anxiety on families and churches. We will also explore patterns of behavior that can help alleviate stress and anxiety. Interspersed throughout the day our chaplains from the Bethany House of Prayer will offer opportunities for reflection, meditation, and prayer.
Note: This is a free event open to all laity in ECCT; preregistration is required in order to receive the Zoom link.

Needed for Trinity's Refugee Families
Each year, VITAS, a service of the state Dept. of Revenue services, prepares without charge federal and state income tax returns of low-income taxpayers. However, due to the pandemic, VITAS is closed. Therefore, the Refugee Committee is looking for a parishioner who would be willing, via ZOOM, to help our Syrian and Afghani families prepare their tax returns. There are two filers in one family and one filer in the other. Their returns are simple, but they still need help at this point.

The family is also looking for a used CD player in good condition, for use with English language-learning CDs.

Please contact Anne Rapkin, a.rapkin@snet.net or 860-521-5992 if you are willing to help.

Email Spam Reminder

There has been another increase in spam emails purporting to be coming from Rev. D.

Please remember that Rev. D. will never email you asking you to purchase gift cards, or to urgently email back but not call. If it’s urgent Rev. D will call you and will not request that you not call. An easy way to check the validity of an email is to check the ‘from’ email address. Finally, if there is any doubt, DO NOT RESPOND TO THE EMAIL. Instead, call or text Rev. D. at 860-986-3289.

You are Invited --- Bible Study/Reflection Group - Tuesdays 5:15-6:15
Our group just finished an 8-session reading and reflecting on the Psalms.
You are invited and welcome to join us. We have begun another series reading and reflecting on the Book of the Acts of the Apostles. Acts is written in the form of a history about the growth and change in the Church after Jesus’ Resurrection. It’s filled with stories about Peter and Paul and Dorcas and Lydia and many others.
No prior background or Bible study is required or necessary, just a willing heart and an open mind.

You can send your email address to Roy McAlpine to let him know you would like to attend. He will send you the Zoom URL and the reading for the session. Roy’s email is rmcalpine@comcast.net, and cell is 860-338-4525.
