Parish Conversation about Church Finances

The Vestry is requesting everyone attend a meeting after the 10am service on January 8th in order to hear information about the challenges facing the Parish in the formation of a 2023 budget, and to join in a conversation about strengthening the financial health of the Parish.
Our next Godly Play class will be 8 January
when we will be working with our lesson on baptism as we remember the Baptism of Our Lord in the river Jordan.
De-Greening Trinity Church,
7 January 2023, 10 AM

And now for the transition from the twelve days of Christmas to the season after Epiphany at Trinity Church!
On Saturday, January 7, 10 AM through Noon, we will change banners, pack and put away wreaths and garlands, store manger scenes and clear away Christmas trees and poinsettias.

Any and all helpers are welcome! There is work for every age and level of ability. Please join us and help "DeGreen" the church for the New Year.
Trinity Book Club Meeting
Godric, a tale of historical fiction based on the life of Godric of Finchale, a twelfth-century English holy man, is Trinity Book Group's selection for January. It's written by Frederick Buechner (who died earlier this year) - a theologian, ordained Presbyterian minister, and acclaimed writer. Book Group will meet on Friday, January 6th, 7:00-9:00 pm at the home of Mark and Linda MacGougan. Please let them know if you plan to attend so there will be plenty of goodies. All are welcome to attend, whether for one meeting of Book Group, or regularly. (macgougans@gmail.com; 860-561-1588)
Women Together...a group that gathers weekly to explore our Christian faith and practice through book discussion, prayer and fellowship. We will resume meetings on Tuesday January 10, 2023 from 2:00 to 3:15pm in the reception room at St. John’s (679 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, CT).

We will begin reading Ladder to the Light, An Indigenous Elders Meditations on Hope and Courage by Steven Charleston ©2021. Steven Charleston is a Choctaw elder and Episcopal priest who offers words of hard-won hope, rooted in daily conversations with the Spirit and steeped in Indigenous wisdom. Native America knows something about cultivating resilience and resisting darkness. For all who yearn for hope, Ladder to the Light is a book of comfort, truth, and challenge in a time of anguish and fear.

For this meeting we will read The Introduction, The Vision of the Kiva and Chapter 1, The Rung of Faith pages 1-37. Don’t worry if you haven’t received your book yet, just read what you can.

The books we choose are usually available at amazon.com and other booksellers. WT has been attended by women from St. John’s, Trinity, St. James and St. Monica’s. Please contact Linda MacGougan or Cathy Rowe if you would like additional information.
