26 September 2021
O God, you declare your almighty power chiefly in showing mercy and pity: Grant us the fullness of your grace, that we, running to obtain your promises, may become partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Women Together

Would you like an opportunity to meet with other women for reading, reflection and discussion on matters of the Christian faith? If so, please consider coming to Women Together, which meets weekly on Tuesdays from 2:00-3:15. Women from St. Monica's, Trinity, St. John's, and friends currently participate in WT, and all are welcome. For the first series of the program year, beginning September 14th and continuing through October, the featured book will be Firstlight by Sue Monk Kidd (available at Amazon). The meeting is planned to take place in the Reception Room at St. John's, on Farmington Avenue in West Hartford (with all attendees wearing masks); however, if the Covid situation changes, the meeting will be via Zoom. Please contact Enid Oberholtzer ([email protected]) or Jo-Ann Sadosky ([email protected]) for more information.
Trinity Book Group

All are welcome to attend Trinity's Book Group, which will resume meeting in person for its first meeting of the program year: Friday, September 24th, 7:00-9:00 pm. Refreshments will be served. Masks will be worn (except when eating) but will not inhibit the lively and interesting discussion sure to take place! The featured book is The Story of More by Hope Jahren. Mark and Linda MacGougan will host the meeting at their home in West Hartford. Please let them know if you plan to attend. ([email protected]; 860-561-1588) Hope to see you!

Teams forming to help resettle an Afghan refugee family
How you can help!

Trinity church, together with St. Patrick St. Anthony (Hartford), is preparing to receive in October one of the thousands of refugee families who have fled Afghanistan. Trinity has a decades-long history of helping refugees, and we are now privileged to continue that tradition. Our new family needs furnishings, clothing, jobs for the adults, English lessons, health care, and public education for the children. We have begun gathering donations of furniture and housewares, but can use more. If you have items you would like to donate, please contact either Drew Smith or Anne Rapkin, who can identify those items that are still needed.
There are big jobs and little jobs for us to do -- a job to fit every volunteer. Please contact Anne Rapkin for more information (860-521-5992; [email protected]).

Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers for by doing that some have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.  —Hebrews 13:1-2
Welcome IRIS!

We are delighted to announce that Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services (IRIS), based in New Haven, is opening a satellite office here in Hartford.
IRIS will be renting space here in the Parish office and occupying the space on the 2nd floor formerly used by SIM.

Please Join the Trinity Community for Racial Justice Hartford Mural Tour - October 10

On Sunday October 10 after the 10:00 service, we will have a “traveling” family forum visiting a selection of Hartford murals that celebrate the themes of racial justice as well as the contributions of BIPOC artists and citizens. We are inspired by an article in the Courant titled, Hartford, a City of Murals, but will focus on new murals since its publication as well.

We will gather in Goodwin Hall right after the conclusion of the service and provide guided directions, encouraging car pooling within Covid safety guidelines. Join us as we reflect together on selected works, ending with lunch at Parkville Market for all who care to join us.

The tour will last approximately one hour, and the rain date is October 17. If you have any questions, please contact Cathy Rowe or Heather Kramer.
Grounds Work Day – Saturday, October 23
Please mark your calendar and save the date for Saturday, October 23. We are looking for volunteers to help with outside fall clean-up. Bring your own rakes/garden tools if you have them.
Any questions, please contact Peter Green at [email protected].
