THE EIGHTH SUNDAY IN PENTECOST

JULY 14, 2024

Dear George,

Our July 3rd burger fest, celebrating both Canada Day (July 1) and U.S. Independence Day (July 4), was a hit! Many Mexican members of our parish also turned up, so despite a significant rainstorm, we had about 70 at the buffet feast! Thanks to our organizers and workers!

The 81st General Convention of the Episcopal Church has concluding, electing the next Primate of the American Province, the Most Reverend Sean W. Rowe.

Bishops and deputies approved the next step toward full Communion between the Episcopal Church and the United Methodist Church by adopting Resolution A049 "joyfully anticipate advancing towards full communion the the United Methodist Church." The Methodist Church split from the Episcopal Church, (to the chagrin of the leaders of Methodism, John and Charles Wesley, who died Anglican priests), in the early years following the Revolutionary War.

The Episcopal Church enjoys full communion with seven churches: the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America; the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada; the Moravian Church; the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of India; the Old Catholic Churches of the Union of Utrecht; the Philippine Independent Church; and the Church of Sweden.

Summer Camp commences at St. Paul's Monday under the leadership of Rosie Stokes and her team. Lot's of kids will occupy the campus three days each week of July, and then for another two weeks in August.

Next Sunday our "live-feed" of Sunday liturgy moves from Facebook to ZOOM and will continue to be posted to our YouTube account.

A 5 day egg tempura workshop (see below) in icon painting with Mary Jane Miller begins July 15.

Grace and peace,

GFW+

Our social committee oversaw a CANADA DAY (JULY 1) and U.S. Independence Day (July 4) event that was quite successful, with over 70 in attendance on a stormy nights. Our burger truck provided vegetarian options and a variety of drinks.

Andrea Spessard proved the highest bidder for one of Adrian Ross' acclaimed shoji paper birds in support of the Karina Fund.

Workshop using egg tempera to complete a Byzantine style icon with Mary Jane Miller. Mixing dirt and mystery is definitely uplifting, every brush stroke reminds you of the moment in Genesis where breath and creation meet. Working each day from 9 am to 3 pm with a break and snack for lunch. $360.00 materials included, no experience is necessary. Because this work takes time we have spread the workshop over two weeks July 15 Mon, 16 Tue, & Thurs18 and the second week Tues July 23, and Thurs 25. Please join us, a donation will be made to the Sunday school program at the end. https://www.millericons.com/

2. Make a copy of your key and ask a friend or neighbor if he/she can be called on to check on you in an emergency.

3. Wait to hear from Patti Morgan. I hope that I can organize a partner for you in less than a week.

THE DANI FUND

The Dani fund was established 13 years ago, when Dani was first born and brought to St. Paul’s by Papa Daniel. The fund was used to support Dani with diapers, formula and whatever he needed. The Dani fund has been used to help with Dani’s schooling and medical needs. , Dani attends Bereshit Christian School. The fund pays his tuition, textbooks and uniform costs, as well as his medical needs. This has been a rough year for Dani and the fund helps provide him with the stability of a school he likes and therapy to help deal with the changes occurring in his life.

If you have been paying into the Dani fund, either as a one time gift or monthly, thank you. If you are interested in helping, please contact Bonnie Eriksmoen at deriksmoen@aol.com. Your donation is appreciated.
