THE TWENTY-SECOND SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

October 20, 2024

Dear George,

We enjoyed the visitation of a delegation from All Saints'-by-the-Sea, Montecito, California this past October 10 - 14, as we consider together a companion relationship. Our delegation was comprised of Dr. Laura Montgomery, Peter Sullivan, and Don Jonathan Sutton.

We visited our Costera ministry, the English language course with Lyn Duburow at Santa Julia, our haircut ministry at Alma (though not at the drug rehab center in Los Rodriguez this visit), our Paddle Tennis Youth ministry, the Youth Orchestra sponsored by St. Paul's, and many other events, with Senior Warden Kathy Lapsys providing, together with Mike Lapsys, home stays and lively hospitality, along with the Rector, Lynn and Rob Ramsey, Andrea Spector, Luis Canales, our Vestry and many others.

Father Adrian, together with seminarian Diego visited from Santiago Apostól in Querétaro. We were judged to be a warm and effective parish!

Our goal is to establish a companion relationship with All Saints'-by-the-Sea, Santa Barbara, where the Rector was priested and served as Assistant from 1983 - 1988, and St. Paul's, San Miguel de Allende.

Enjoy photos below, and bless you each for offering such notable congregational welcome!

Grace and peace,

BIBLE STUDY ON ROMANS

“It is impossible to read or to meditate on this letter too much or too well,”

wrote Martin Luther in 1522 in the preface to his commentary on the Letter

to the Romans. For Luther and for many other theologians and Biblical

scholars over the centuries, St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans is the very

heart of the gospel. Luther speaks for many when he writes, “This letter is

truly the most important piece in the New Testament.” Centuries later,

Swiss theologian Karl Barth’s rocked the world of theology in 1919 when

his Commentary on Romans was published.

So…what does this New Testament letter contain? Why is it so important

to our Christian faith? How do its truths apply in our day and age?

Come and find out when Father Frank Hebert leads a Bible Study on

Monday mornings at 10am at the Church beginning Monday, September 2.

You will be challenged intellectually by this densely written theological

treatise. You will be surprised by how it speaks to our modern age. And

you will be inspired to deeper faith and insight.

All are welcome, and there is no cost to participate, but please sign up by

contacting the Church Office at stpaulmanagementSMA@gmail.com so

that enough study materials can be prepared. For questions, contact Fr.

Frank at fnhebert@gmail.com

Educafe

is one of St. Paul's Community Development Projects. Educafe.org is a Mexican not-for profit raising educational funds from the sale of coffee grown in Oaxaca and Veracruz. Each bag is priced at 200 pesos, of which 87 pesos goes to a project of your selection. The QR code on the back of each bag allows you to select the project of your choice, a few of which support St. Paul's Community Development Project. Parishioner Geoffrey Drayton leads this effort, and welcomes all questions.

THE DANI FUND

The Dani fund was established 13 years ago, when Dani was first born and brought to St. Paul’s by Papa Daniel. The Dani fund has been used to help with Dani’s schooling and medical needs. Dani attends Bereshit Christian School. The fund pays his tuition, textbooks and uniform costs, as well as his medical needs.

If you have been contributing to the Dani fund, thank you. If you are interested in helping, please contact Bonnie Eriksmoen at deriksmoen@aol.com.
