THE TENTH SUNDAY IN PENTECOST

JULY 28, 2024

Dear George,

Padre Miguel+ shared with us today that Karina's physician is most heartened by her response to chemotherapy, and, though himself an atheist, said these remarkable results must be due to God.

That is encouragement for all of us to continue in prayer. Thanks to you all for financial contributions and meal preparations. The family knows themselves to be strongly supported by St. Paul's.

Tracey and Colin Kitzman were in Church today, visiting from NYC as Colin leads a school project in SMA. Edrie didn't make it this journey!

Marjorie and Mike Pope are back from Atlanta, having gotten out of the airport just before the computer snafu that still has left many flyers stranded. It is delightful to see them "home!"

There were a larger number of visitors than usual, citing Dallas and Alabama and other spots experiencing hot summer weather. We are pleased recent rains have made San Miguel a cool and pleasant respite.

Summer Camp continues at St. Paul's Monday under the leadership of Rosie Stokes and her team. Lot's of kids will occupy the campus three days each week of July, and then for another two weeks in August.

A 5 day egg tempura workshop (see below) in icon painting / praying with Mary Jane Miller spans dates this coming week.

Grace and peace,

GFW+

The Missioner for Latin American Ministries in the Episcopal Church, the Reverend Canon Anthony Guillen and his wife Guadalupe, visited St. Paul's Friday July 19. Canonically resident in the Diocese of Los Angeles, and friends of Canon Woodward's for many years, some of Canon Guillen's excellent resources may be viewed HERE.

CHILDREN'S SUMMER CAMP: Sunday School Director Rosie Stokes leads Summer Camp in July and August with about 35 children in attendance.

Workshop using egg tempera to complete a Byzantine style icon with Mary Jane Miller. Mixing dirt and mystery is definitely uplifting, every brush stroke reminds you of the moment in Genesis where breath and creation meet. Working each day from 9 am to 3 pm with a break and snack for lunch. $360.00 materials included, no experience is necessary. Because this work takes time we have spread the workshop over two weeks July 15 Mon, 16 Tue, & Thurs18 and the second week Tues July 23, and Thurs 25. Please join us, a donation will be made to the Sunday school program at the end. https://www.millericons.com/

Want to provide a meal or casserole one week? Sign up on the sign-up sheet at the door. Casseroles/meals may be placed in the refrigerator Sunday (or during the week) for transport to the family home.

Thank you, Canon Woodward+

The liturgy and sermon for the Ninth Sunday in Pentecost, 21 July 2024 may be found HERE, however there is, for some reason not yet discerned, no accompanying sound this week, so I don't suspect there will be many viewers.

Educafe

is one of St. Paul's Community Development Projects. Educafe.org is a Mexican not-for profit raising educational funds from the sale of coffee grown in Oaxaca and Veracruz. Each bag is priced at 200 pesos, of which 87 pesos goes to a project of your selection. The QR code on the back of each bag allows you to select the project of your choice, a few of which support St. Paul's Community Development Project. Parishioner Geoffrey Drayton leads this effort, and welcomes all questions. Want to see what your coffee purchases are achieving? Glance below:

THE DANI FUND

The Dani fund was established 13 years ago, when Dani was first born and brought to St. Paul’s by Papa Daniel. The fund was used to support Dani with diapers, formula and whatever he needed. The Dani fund has been used to help with Dani’s schooling and medical needs. Dani attends Bereshit Christian School. The fund pays his tuition, textbooks and uniform costs, as well as his medical needs. This has been a rough year for Dani and the fund helps provide him with the stability of a school he likes and therapy to help deal with the changes occurring in his life.

If you have been paying into the Dani fund, either as a one time gift or monthly, thank you. If you are interested in helping, please contact Bonnie Eriksmoen at deriksmoen@aol.com.
