Dear George,
Easter Seven, May 12, saw the Blessing of the 49th anniversary of Holy Matrimony for Lynn and Rob Ramsey, Mother's Day, Children's Sermon and Kids at the Altar.
And then...a surprise to us all, a Parade in front of St. Paul's! Usually these prevent people from arrival to Church. This one surprised people who found themselves an additional two hours on the campus! (Primarily this affected our Spanish language Mass).
Our amazing hospitality teams from 10:15am and Noon kept us well-fed, and the Feria Parade well entertained! One of the wonderful things about San Miguel de Allende is serendipity, and you really had to admire, in this heat, the revelers in costume. Choir Master Xavier Hernández did comment that the reggaeton music of such parades might be improved upon. Concur.
Hospital Joya is again hosting the Kids First program, 19-23 May 2024. Please let people know in case anyone is aware of children who might benefit from this program.
Kids First brings about 20 physicians from the US to provide free orthopedic services to children in the San Miguel area. This year’s event will start with evaluations scheduled for Sunday, 19 May, and identified surgeries will happen Monday through Thursday, 20 – 23 May, at Hospital Joya. The program serves children aged 0-17 years 11 months and is free of charge.
Kids First is coordinated through DIF, the governmental social services agency in SMA, with both the Evaluations and the Surgeries happening at Joya. If the child needs something rather simple done, it will be taken care of during the evaluation; if they need surgery, it will be scheduled during the following week.
It is necessary to register for the evaluation through DIF preferably at the DIF office, corner of Insurgentes and San Antonio Abad, or by phone at: 415-152-0910 or email: asistenciasocial_difsma@hotmail.com.
DIF will need the following documents for the child:
· CURP
· Birth certificate – Acta de nacimiento
· Proof of residence – Comprobante de domicilio
· IFE of mother or father – IFE de mamá o papá
Again, please mention this to anyone who might be aware of a child who needs these services.
Tuesday and Thursday English classes are suspended until mid-June as Lyne Daroff makes a quick jaunt to the States.
Our sign up sheet for weekly casseroles / meals for the Rios/Rangel family now through November is well on it's way to completion. We'll keep a list by the parish door and on one of the bulletin boards.
Sign ups for flower/candle donations are lagging. A sheet will appear on bulleting boards (magically, I'm sure, but probably because of efforts by Isobella Kreitzel.
It has become common in Episcopal/Anglican parishes to sport something RED on the Feast of Pentecost. Hmmm.
Blessed Eastertide (until this coming Sunday...the Feast of Pentecost!)
