Message from the Rector
Yesterday, I attended a meeting with our bishop and the clergy of the southern region of the diocese. There were about 20 priests and deacons present. We began our time with a “check-in” where we were asked to share a “joy” and a “sorrow” from the past year. When I heard this request, I was thankful that my head immediately filled with innumerable joys and very few sorrows. I couldn’t be more happy to share with the group, when it was my turn to speak, how this past year (my first full year with you at All Saints) has been overflowing with joys—how wonderful it feels to be confident in my call to be your rector…how amazing, kind, compassionate, giving, caring, and forgiving this community is…how much I love you.
I have felt this feeling of being blessed for a while, but after last Sunday’s surprise brunch celebration commemorating my 1-year anniversary, it has been drastically reinforced. I am still feeling the love, but more importantly, I am so grateful that love is mutual. We are in this relationship together and will be for a long, God willing! Thank you so much for an amazing celebration!!!
During this season when we are emphasizing prayer and its importance, my first and major prayer when thinking about All Saints is GRATITUDE. I pray this prayer never changes—for me or for you. But if / when it does, I pray that we will “return” just as God invites us too, especially this time of year.
With deep gratitude,
Andrew +

Turkey Earthquake Relief: Flash Drive to Donate!
As you all know, the earthquake in Turkey has devastated the lives of millions. Because of a longtime partnership that the Rev. Jeff Hual, rector of All Hallows Edgewater, has had with a Syrian refugee agency in Turkey, I am strongly advocating we support and send funds directly to those hardest hit. The community that Jeff has worked with for over 8 years, Syrian refugees in Şanlıurfa, is one of the cities closest to the epicenter of the earthquake zone.
Today is the last day of the Flash Drive to help get financial aid directly in the hands of those who need it most. You have until midnight tonight!

Prayer:
We pray for the people of Central Turkey and North West Syria, whose lives have been devastated by the earthquake.
Be present, O Lord, our Good Shepherd, to bring comfort, relief, shelter and human kindness. Shield the people who suffer, console those who are bereaved, prosper the provision of relief, strengthen the work of emergency teams, and shine your light and hope in the midst of despair.
We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

What is "Stations of the Cross" Glad you asked! Learn all about it here and even more on a personal level when you take part. https://www.episcopalchurch.org/glossary/way-of-the-cross-stations-of-the-cross/
The United States Council of Bishops has adjusted the wording for the Stations of the Cross to reflect on systemic racism in America. It's very powerful. LINK

ECW News
It's that time of the month again! All ECW women (women 16 and older) are invited to join us at Dream Weaver in Prince Frederick for our fun and fellowship breakfast this Saturday at 9AM. Hope to see you there!
Our regular monthly business meeting will be held on Saturday, March 18th from 9-11 AM (in the lower level Parish Hall). We recentlyhave had trouble getting a Zoom link to work for our meetings, therefore we will not be hosting a hybrid meeting this month. If you cannot join us in person for the meeting, please text Deb Shupe at 410-231-8150 before 8:45 on Saturday morning. We will bring you in on speaker phone.
Please note on the flyer below that we have set up a bunch of crafting dates between now and Calvert Arts Fest (CAF). We have very little inventory for spring and summer. Almost all of our craft inventory is Christmasy (red, green and white), along with a few fall items. CAF is the day before Mother's Day and we need fresh new craft items for gifting and spring decor. Please come when you can to as many crafting events as you can! We have weekdays and weekend dates! If you have craft supplies, bring them along with your ideas. We will have some craft ideas, projects and supplies for those who are not particularly crafty, along with directions. We hope to have someone as a craft coach for each crafting session to help us if we get stuck!

Blueprint for Maryland’s Future
Readers may remember the Kirwan Commission of 2017-2019, formally named the Commission on Innovation & Excellence in Education. This commission was created by the Maryland General Assembly in 2016 with the purpose of developing policy & funding recommendations to improve Maryland’s public education system. MGA’s goal has been to shape education to produce workforce-ready graduates that would help make Maryland nationally & globally competitive. If successful, this strategy would benefit students & the State’s economy alike, & positively impact all Maryland residents’ quality of life. In 2021 the MGA adopted the Kirwan Commission’s recommendations through the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future legislation. Since then, the Maryland State Board of Education & other stakeholders have been developing plans for implementing the Blueprint. Calvert County Public Schools is one of the stakeholders. CCPS has shared a schedule for public information sessions to share updates about the implementation plan & timeline. More information can be found at:
https://www.calvertnet.k12.md.us/district.../ccps-blueprint.
Ultimately, we are all stakeholders where our children are concerned. Their success depends on all of us being engaged in their education as each of us is able.
