Steve: A wave of recent studies points to the same conclusion: meaningful weight management comes from sustained behavior change. In a 16-week behavioral program reported in journal Obesity, 449 adults with obesity lost about 7 kg on average simply by cutting roughly 460 calories a day, even though the program never explicitly targeted ultraprocessed foods. Participants still trimmed their ultraprocessed intake from 53% to 50% of calories, and those bigger reductions predicted slightly greater weight loss on their own.

Human support is what makes habits stick. A study presented at the 33rd European Congress on Obesity 2026 gave adults with overweight or obesity Garmin wearables plus varying levels of support - professional coaching, peer coaching, AI chatbots, or devices alone. Those with a real human coach showed by far the strongest engagement, along with early gains in sleep and stress.

Another study from Obesity found that an intensive coach-led lifestyle program didn't just produce more weight loss than usual care - it measurably improved patients' quality of life, from physical function and self-esteem to fatigue and social life.

A middle-aged women came to see Steve presenting with hives, nummular eczema, light-headedness and dizziness, moderate hair loss, and environmental allergies. Her blood work showed a weakened immune system, high acidity, and acute inflammation.

Steve had her focus on limiting acidic foods and those with high salicylic acid, as well as being aware of foods that highly cross-react with outdoor pollens. She also eliminated certain dietary supplements that were making things worse and replaced them with ones that would help.

In short order, her dizziness decreased dramatically and was completely eliminated at month six. Her hives resolved completely and while her nummular eczema is still there, it is much less and not raised and red. She has significantly reduced allergy symptoms. Her hair loss has abated.

I recently listened to a fascinating interview on YouTube between two chiropractors with footage of Dr. Raymond Damadian, a medical doctor, who is the inventor of the MRI. He displayed the MRI results of his MS patients, explaining that each one of them had malrotation of the bones in their neck, which Chiropractors call subluxation. To his astonishment the subluxations created a pronounced obstruction of the Cerebrospinal Fluid flow with no entry and no exit of this important lymphatic fluid between the brain and the neck.

This fluid contains proteins and also helps the brain and body to release toxins. The body stores toxins in fat and the brain is fat, which needs to be cleansed regularly. If there is no flow due to malrotation in the spine, as was witnessed in the MRI's, that's a problem. Paper after paper in the medical profession has associated neurodegenerative diseases, including MS, Parkinsons, ALS, Alzheimer's, Dementia and even some depression with the lack of flow within the lymph of the spine and the lymph in the brain called the glymphatic flow. 

Often one has a forward head posture or a posture of slumped shoulders, which is another indication of subluxations of the bones in the neck. The medical profession does not have a pill that will change these malrotations to improve the flow of the fluid. Chiropractors, however, have a 150 year history of adjusting subluxations to improve the alignment of the bones in the spine, neck and head.

One of the chiropractors in the video, Dr. Sarah Kolterman, has patients with neurodegenerative conditions at her clinic in Washington State. She has written papers on her clinical findings and is having them published. She assesses her patients for subluxations, chemistry/nutrition and toxicity. In order to get the best results in as quickly a time frame as possible, patients stay 5 days at a time, receiving 60-70 gentle tonal adjustments in a week's time. After 5 days their forward head posture improves by quite a few inches. This allows for fluid to flow freely between the neck and the brain allowing positive changes to occur in these patients with severe neurodegenerative conditions. 

I loved that during the conversation, the video was constantly displaying medical research articles that backed up everything she was discussing. She soon will open up a clinic just for children as has found that this population is also very much in need of help.
