Message From The President |

Lately there has been a lot of frustrating news about the slow pace of administering COVID-19 vaccinations here in New York and across the country. As frustrating as the reports have been, we can be pleased by how smoothly the process is going here at Weinberg Campus. Our partnership with CVS has served our residents and employees well.
At this point, all our residents at Rosa Coplon Living Center who have chosen to be vaccinated have received both doses of the vaccine. Similarly, all residents at Dosberg Manor and in the enriched housing program at Meadows Apartments who have opted to receive the vaccine will receive their second dose by February 25. Garden House residents who have opted in will receive their first dose by February 15. Many of our employees are receiving the vaccination as well.
This is great news, and I am grateful for the cooperation of our residents and their families, our staff, and CVS in helping advance the health, safety, and well-being of the Weinberg family.
On another note, February is American Heart Month. In the midst of the pandemic, it’s easy to forget that Americans continue to face other health issues. Heart disease is the country’s leading cause of death, with 655,000 people a year dying from heart disease. That’s 43% more than the number of people who have died from the virus during the past 12 months.
I bring this up as a reminder that the physicians and other practitioners who visit and care for our residents, along with our devoted staff, have continued to serve the health needs, beyond the virus, of those we care for here at Weinberg. They have done so at their own personal risk. While it might be easy to say “that’s their job,” I truly admire and thank all of them for the expert and compassionate care they have continued to provide our residents.
One of my favorite humorists once wrote that God gave us February so that those who don’t drink can know what a hangover feels like. While I’m not sure that February is all THAT bad, it is good to know that March is on its way with April right behind. Glorious spring in Western New York will soon be here. I’m looking forward to it as hopefully as I am looking forward to having the pandemic behind us.

We're pleased to report below the current status of the two-dose COVID-19 vaccines for staff and residents who have opted to receive it:
Rosa Coplon Living Center: 1st and 2nd doses completed
Dosberg Manor & Meadows Enriched: Feb. 25 (2nd dose)
Garden House: Feb. 15 (1st & 2nd dose), & March 8 (2nd dose)
We are very fortunate to have excellent partners in CVS Health, who have made this a smooth process.
We are not letting our guard down - we continue to follow the ongoing safety precautions to provide the utmost protection and care for our residents and staff on campus.
We understand there are many questions regarding visitation as residents and staff receive the COVID-19 vaccine. We continue to follow the recommendations and guidelines from the Department of Health, and will update you when we receive new information.

Ernie, Dosberg Manor

Ernie has been a Dosberg Manor resident for just over two years now. We caught up with Ernie to learn more about his life, his family, and what he enjoys about assisted living at Dosberg Manor. |

The Early Years
Ernie grew up in the Buffalo area and had big dreams to see the world. After graduating high school, Ernie joined the United States Navy and served for two years. In those two years he was stationed in Naples, Italy and explored most of the Mediterranean.
When he returned from the service, he worked at several different places as a fabricator. He spent 17 years of his career at Chevy Tonawanda before retiring.
When he was in his thirties, Ernie met the love of his life and got married. They were married for 30 years! Ernie has one daughter, a son-in-law and two grandchildren.
“She is the apple of my eye!” Ernie says about his daughter, Kathy. Their bond is strong – they call each other each day after every meal.
“[She] brings me all my favorite things,” says Ernie. “Ice creams, raisin toast – anything I might need.”

Fun Memories
When asked about his biggest accomplishment, Ernie spoke proudly of the three homes he owned throughout the years. Besides his home in Buffalo, Ernie had homes in Kissimmee, Florida and Waterport, New York (Orleans County). He referred to himself as a “snowbird”, reminiscing about the seven months he’d spend in Florida each year. His trailer in Waterport allowed the whole family to enjoy camping experiences and make great memories, including boating and skiing. Ernie enjoyed waterskiing, roller-skating, and biking seven miles a day!
Ernie would eventually retire to Kissimmee, Florida, and reside there for 30 years before making Dosberg Manor his home.

Life at Dosberg Manor
In his two years of living at Dosberg Manor, Ernie has enjoyed the comforts of home.
“I have my own room and am very comfortable here. The staff is very accommodating of the things that I need,” says Ernie.
Residents can find Ernie frequently refilling his coffee mug and saying hi to everyone he passes. To those who might be deciding if Dosberg Manor is right for them, he says, “Come in and see our place, you’ll like it! There’s a lot of nice people who work here.”

Inpatient Therapy Services |

Did you know that Rosa Coplon Living Center has an inpatient therapy rehabilitation center? Pictured below is our awesome team who provides physical, speech and occupational therapy services. Whether for therapy after a recent hip, knee or back surgery; recovery from a fall; help dealing with a medical condition; or healing from a work-related injury, our short-term inpatient therapy experience helps put people on the path to recovery.
