This week, Portland Downtown's board and staff are delighted to welcome Cary Tyson as our new executive director. Most recently, Cary served as the director of economic and community development for the Kennebec Valley Council of Governments.

“Portland Downtown’s mission is more important now than ever,” he said. “I look forward to working with our staff, board, business & property owners, and nonprofit partners to ensure that our community – even in the midst of great uncertainty – remains vital and vibrant. I am thrilled to be a part of an organization that has, and always will, create positive change.”
As we welcome Cary, we also bid a fond farewell to our wonderful executive director of the past five years: Casey Gilbert . Casey recently earned a PhD in Public Policy from USM, and she is launching a Melbourne, Florida-based consulting practice called PowerWith Consulting .

"It's been an amazing five years in Portland and I am going to miss it," she said. "Especially my awesome colleagues and staff who have been such a pleasure to work with! The organization is in great hands with Cary, and I look forward to following the work and impact of Portland Downtown for years to come."
