The Board of Trustees and the Ministerial Search Team are so very delighted to share news of the April 21, 2024, congregational vote to call the Rev. Dr. Oscar Sinclair as Senior Minister of Unity Church. The affirmative vote exceeded our congregational bylaws requirement of 85%, as well as the 90% minimum threshold hoped for by most ministerial candidates. As Rev. Oscar shared in remarks at the conclusion of Sunday’s meeting, he accepts this call “with great humility and fullness of heart.”
In the coming months, Rev. Oscar will be concluding his work with his congregation in Lincoln, NE. He, Stacie, Ailish, and Teddy their black lab will relocate to the Twin Cities this summer and Rev. Oscar’s work with us at Unity Church will begin in August. Plans for a celebration will be announced soon!
It seems fitting to make space for a few deep breaths. Consider taking a moment to breathe in love and peace. The search process was lengthy and involved and we have been on quite a journey of many ups and downs. We would like to express our deep gratitude to everyone who attended cottage meetings, answered survey questions and participated in workshops about our congregation’s history and culture as well as the search itself. Thank you also for your robust engagement in candidating week. Your voices and our conversations were integral to shaping this process and the outcome. We’ve shared so many of the stories about Unity Church that needed telling and they have called us -- together with Rev. Oscar -- into our future.
