Welcome "Sugar"

Dharmahorse Equine Sanctuary

and Herbal Stable Yard

Greetings!

Our newest intake is a blind Appaloosa named Sugar. She is 24 years old and was cherished by her family all of her life. Her people are moving overseas and she needed a home. Because we had lost our beloved Gita, also a blind Appaloosa mare, we had the room and experience to give Sugar a home for life and a soft landing.

Sugar started here in the Quarantine Pen after a long journey from northern New Mexico.

She is now in the pen/stall between Billy and Jasper, bonding with Jasper pony.

Sugar needed Jasper and Jasper needed her!

Read her story here: Welcome Sugar

Jasper has always been an unusual pony, not connecting to other horses or ponies. We worried about his emotional well-being; he would shake in fear around other equines! He met with Sugar at their dividing fence and bonded with her right away! Here is a video about Jasper:

We see each horse here as an individual with physical, mental and emotional needs that are dynamic and fluctuate with the weather, the seasons, their changing bodies as they age and who they live with as a herd. You can help us help horses like Jasper and Sugar.

We appreciate everyone who helps us help these horses. Donors, Volunteers, Foundations and those who "spread the word" about Dharmahorse. Thank you all.

Mahalo!
