COC Newsletter Launch
Our Chamber began its digital newsletter in an effort to keep our Members AND Non-Members informed of Chamber happenings as well as the municipal representatives of
each of the Villages which make up Suffern.

In discussions we've had with several individuals, we have found the Newsletter is received by most but there are a few who find it in their spam. We are exploring new ways to ensure everyone is contacted by using several vehicles such as Facebook Messenger as well as a new tab launching soon on our Website called "Check-In Wednesday" where we will have all the latest Chamber happenings listed. A mini poster card will be printed soon and handed out to ALL to serve as a reminder to check our website for updates.

Street Fairs Reinvented
This past year, our Chamber celebrated its Street Fair's 25th Anniversary and what a celebration it was! Our events team led by Nicole Russodivito and John Durkin brought back the vibrancy of long ago and more!

Suffern received over 15,000 visitors in April and had a waiting list for vendors. Our restaurants and business owners joined in as well. The Street Fair gave our community a fantastic family day and gave our businesses a good deal of exposure! Looking forward to our 2017 efforts!

Explore Harriman Tourism Program
In 2014, our Chamber began a project to help boost tourism to Suffern by utilizing one of our greatest assets which is Harriman State Park.

In 2016, we collaborated with the Sloatsburg Revitalization Committee and Rockland County Economic Development & Tourism and were able to secure a grant of $25K slated by the County for marketing through media sources from NYC, NJ and other surrounding areas.

The advertisements were placed in the New York City Straus Papers, NJ Transit, and other media sources, as well as paid social media boosting through Facebook which received a great deal of traction.

Suffern Promotion Project
As part of our Explore Harriman Project, our Chamber had Michael Malandra of PhoTour Adventures begin shooting images of Suffern in Autumn and Winter. For 2017, we will have Spring and Summer images completed as well.

Our Chamber is in the midst of using Malandra's images to create a digital brochure which real estate agents will be able to use for potential families exploring Suffern and to woo new businesses to come into Suffern.

COC Collaboration Mixer Event
Besides the launch of our social media marketing campaign in November of 2014, our Chamber strived to build a sturdier bridge between businesses and the Village government as well as with local organizations such as Rotary Club, Suffern Woman's Club, the REACH Foundation, etc.

In our 2015 Mixer at Crowne Plaza, our Chamber brought together speakers who were working on projects that would revitalize Suffern.

This past September, the Chamber brought together speakers on the County level such as Lucy Redzeposki of Rockland County Economic Development & Tourism, County Exec Ed Day, Art Clark from Visit Nyack as a Case Study and Mayor Ed Markunas. The Mixer emphasized the success of collaborative efforts for economic development.

Our Chamber will continue to hold annual large networking mixers on notable topics. This year, we will strive to have a bi-annual event.

This past year, we work together with the Village of Suffern on events such as the Village's Grace VanderWaal Celebration Day, the Village's Halloween Window Decorating Competition and the Village's Christmas Parade.

1st Small Business Saturday Event
We had a pretty good first attempt launching our first Shop Small/Shop Local event. Our team was organized and we made note of where we needed to improve in creating a more visible event for 2017.

Our calendars are marked well in advance and plans are underway!

Facebook Directory Launch
In 2016, our Chamber took a proactive approach on our Chamber Member listing. Rather than wait to have the general public learn of our Members by visiting our website, we brought the Directory to the public and pinned it to the top of our Facebook Page.

We are posting an updated copy of the Directory this week and will begin circulating segments throughout Rockland and Bergen County. Our first Directory posting did well with a viewership of over 1,000. We believe we will surpass this by much more.

Chamber FB Page Activity
In May 2016, our Chamber Page received 1000 Likes!
It may not seem like an extraordinary number but for a Chamber of Commerce to achieve this in a matter of 18 months, it is! We can also add we have many more page likes than some, if not all, the Chambers of Commerce in our immediate area.

We take pride in not only having Chamber Members join our FB Page, but residents as well who recognize the Chamber as a good source for Suffern Happenings! We credit the traction to not only listing Chamber happenings but Village of Suffern and community-wide news and events.

Special Event
Our Chamber continues to help promote local non-Chamber events by our businesses and local oranizations such as the following:

- STEAM EXPO by the REACH Foundation
- BANFF Film Festival at the Lafayette Theatre
- Kurt Gallagher Returns at the Ice Factory Café

No matter how small your event, please share it with our Chamber by Messaging our Facebook Page or emailing us at greatersuffernchamber@gmail.com.

COC Community Service Program
In 2016, our Chamber launched a project to have Suffern High School students connect with businesses and local organizations!

In working together, our hope is to have students take pride in the community they live in and receive community service credit for assisting our businesses and Villages.

Each student will receive a Letter of Recognition at the end of the school term.

New Business Openings
We're delighted to have had several businesses open in the Village of Suffern this past Year! Thank you to the following:

Bagel Paradise & Caribbean Cafe
Forgia Pizzeria
Jay's Thai Kitchen
The Gold Owl
Fink's BBQ & Cheesesteak Roadhouse
Postnet Printing & Mailing Services
Curly's Corner
Salon Eleven
Sushi Bada

We look forward to having many more once our Chamber's digital brochure is launched!
Suffern Excitement
This past year Suffern received a great amount of limelight! Earlier, we welcomed celebrity Adam Sandler in the Village of Suffern for a film shoot which brought a great deal of attention to Suffern. But nothing made Suffern hearts shine brighter than the beautiful smile and talent of Suffern's very own young songwriter, Grace VanderWaal!

Our Chamber says thank you again Grace for bringing your gift to the world!

Remembering Mike Rogers
In closing, we remember Mr. Michael Rogers. Mike was a tremendously giving man also known as Mr Press who held his printing office in Suffern for many years supporting fellow Suffern business owners, residents and beyond. He believed in everyone working together for the greater good and his generosity is an inspiration to so many including our Chamber Board and volunteers!

Our Chamber will forever reserve his Membership listing on our website in his memory.

[ You can put your trust in Mr Press. We provide personal service and exceptional quality. All of our services and products are guaranteed. We have been in business for the nearly 12 years. Our unparalleled service, competitive prices, and overall value are why our loyal customers won't go anywhere else. We look forward to serving you! The name you can trust! ]
