Blessings for an abundant New Year from the California Institute for Human Science!
We would like to re-introduce ourselves as we move into 2022.
Located on a beautiful facility in the beach city of Encinitas, we are proud to offer a seamless academic experience centered around human capacity and its complexities. Students are encouraged to explore the uniqueness of their mind, body, spirit connection and their role in cultivating society’s betterment. The university not only facilitates this experiential learning but supports students in applying it to real-world circumstances. As the only accredited university headquartered in Encinitas, we offer graduate degree programs (in-person and virtually) in: Integral Health, Integral Noetic Sciences, Psychology, and Yoga Therapy. We also offer public and continuing education courses through our Center for Lifelong Learning. Looking forward to sharing conscious connection with you in 2022!

CIHS launches new Yoga Therapy degree program

We are so pleased to announce the launch of our new Dual Masters Program, Yoga Therapy and Integral Health. This exciting dual program will provide students with a comprehensive, three dimensional study of the mind, body, and spirit through yoga and holistic healing practices, including asana, meditation, pranayama, energy work, chanting, mudra, spiritual psychology, counseling, and lifestyle coaching. This innovative program is made possible through CIHS’ partnership with The The Soul of Yoga, a renowned yoga studio in Encinitas that hosts the only International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) accredited Yoga Therapy Training Program in San Diego.

“This is a unique opportunity to earn a master’s degree alongside an IAYT credential, and this dual program is the only one on the West Coast,” said Monique Lonner of Soul of Yoga. Graduates from CIHS’s new dual programs will be IAYT credential-eligible yoga therapists and master’s degree holders in integral health. Through this unique area of study, students will learn to tailor the practices and teachings of yoga to address health needs and cultivate a personal wellness program. Dr. Thomas Brophy, President of CIHS, said. “The students who attend CIHS look for a unique approach to wellness that compliments their health and wellness journeys, so it is appropriate that our programs include yoga therapy which is proven to impact the mind, body, and spirit positively. This program will bridge the divide between traditional and integrative health studies, and graduates will come away with a new, thoughtful approach to help clients find true wellbeing. If yoga has impacted you, and you know its power in fostering mind, body, and health, this is the perfect master’s program for you,” Brophy said. “Not only will it provide you a foundation in integral health but teach you the methods to explore the deep impact yoga has on full-body wellness. CIHS is thrilled to feature this highly requested program.”
CIHS Trustee donates $10,000 for a President's Fund for Research and Scholarship
Thank you Joe!
We are delighted and very grateful to announce that CIHS Trustee Joseph L. Subbiondo has donated $10,000 to initiate a President’s Fund for Research and Scholarship.

The fund supports research and scholarship of faculty and students that advance the academic mission of CIHS. Supported activities include: presentations to scientific, academic and scholarly conferences, publication in peer reviewed scientific and scholarly journals, fundamental research that leads to publication and/or presentation.

Joe hopes that his gift will inspire others to contribute to the President’s Fund for Research and Scholarship to advance the research and scholarly reputation of the University. An additional gift has already been donated to the fund by CIHS friend, Yem Fong. We look forward to growing the fund in 2022 and continuing the research that makes the world a better place.

New book by CIHS graduate, Kate Shelest. With over 30 years experience as a registered nurse, Kate decided to explore a more holistic approach to client care. This path led to her certification in Advanced Integrative Energy Healing™ and introduced her to Integral health studies at the California Institute for Human Science. Her West Coast based private practice supports clients to integrate holistic modalities into their health care regimes.

Human beings are more than just the physical body. A grassroots paradigm shift to holistic and integrative healing methods is happening. These methods are not new; many are grounded in ages-old wisdom, and some integrate modern and traditional healing techniques.
This book is a guide that provides a brief overview of a selection of these traditional and integrative paradigms of health and disease, with references for further exploration. It is intended to stimulate curiosity and interest in the possibility that body-mind-spirit based practices are rich resources waiting to be tapped.

With a strong interest in biofield science, consciousness theory, and subtle energy research, her focus is now on introducing nurses and other health professionals to holistic self-care practices.
Congratulations!
