The following article from our new ministry partner A Place Called Home in Lindsay is an example of the work that your donation to FaithWorks supports.

Welcome
to the FaithWorks family!

A Place Called Home,
Lindsay

Since 1995, A Place Called Home has supported homeless men, women and families with children in the City of Kawartha Lakes and County of Haliburton.

APCH is a place of encouragement. We help people who find themselves homeless get back on their feet so they are able to move forward and obtain a stable residence. Living in crisis is very stressful and once a resident has found a way through that, their mental and physical health can improve significantly. It is just one of the reasons we are here and it is very rewarding to help make a difference in the lives of people who are facing a serious crisis.

APCH helps those at risk of becoming homeless keep their homes. We continue to help previous guests through ongoing communication and providing support to prevent situations that could put them at risk of becoming homeless again. Our staff has extensive knowledge of all government and community based programs and services related to homelessness and the barriers that those facing homelessness encounter.

APCH has embarked on the development and construction of a new, purpose-built emergency shelter to better serve the homeless of Kawartha Lakes and the County of Haliburton. The new shelter will create a dignified and accessible space for residents to be supported as they stabilize and find stable housing.

Our many community partners play a large part in helping our clients through this process through our extensive referral network.

The Outreach and AfterCare Program strives to prevent homelessness. Whether it is a family concerned they may be evicted from their home or a previous guest who is at risk of becoming homeless again, this program is designed to assist with various concerns or circumstances that, if left unresolved, could result in homelessness.

The Youth Trustee Program is available for youth, ages 16-25 (up to 32 under special circumstances) who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County.

A $100,000 Matching Challenge Grant for 2022

A generous donor has offered a $100,000 matching challenge grant for all new and increased donations. That means for every dollar raised over last year’s amount, by an individual or parish, FaithWorks receives an extra dollar. We encourage you to make a special effort this year.

Doing a little more can make twice the difference.

FaithWorks Sermon or Presentation

By the Grace of God, parish life will begin to return to something like normal, a new normal, as 2022 progresses. More and more, our worship, programs and activities will be happening in person as well as on-line. In 2021, FaithWorks experienced spectacular participation in our parishes, 93% across the Diocese. I hope that in 2022 your parish FaithWorks activities and results will exceed last years so we can better help our ministry partners continue to offer food and shelter, support and care, direction and opportunity to so many vulnerable people.

To assist and inspire, you can arrange for a sermon, presentation or visit by representatives of our ministry partners, the Director of Stewardship Development, Peter Misiaszek, or me, by contacting the FaithWorks Speakers Bureau at
