Dear Farragut Middle School Families,
I am pleased to inform you that yesterday, the Hastings-on-Hudson Board of Education appointed Dr. Anil Edward as Assistant Principal for Farragut Middle School, effective Aug 6, 2021.
Dr. Edward has been an Assistant Principal at Equality Charter School for the past three years. Prior to his administrative position, Dr. Edward served in the capacity of Department Chair of Science and classroom teacher at both the middle and high school levels.
Dr. Edward holds both a Ph.D. and MPhil from Walden University specializing in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. His published research paper was titled “Teachers Support in Implementing the Standards for Mathematical Practice.” Additionally, he earned a MS in Educational Leadership from Touro College, and a BSc in Biology from the University of Guyana.
During his tenure at Equality Charter School, Dr. Edward has served in a variety of leadership roles. He implemented schoolwide strategic plans to improve school systems, collected and analyzed academic and behavioral data, and trained and supported staff in implementing the multi-tiered systems of support. He also led various district-wide professional development for teachers around incorporating technology in the classroom, instructional practices, restorative practice approach to school discipline, and culturally responsive teaching.
His references described Dr. Edward as an empathetic lifelong learner who is extremely dedicated and reflective. His strengths are building school culture and supporting teachers. One reference shared, “Dr. Edward is not only an amazing person but a true educator at heart. He has the biggest love for learning, and it shows in his genuine passion to support students and teachers.”
We are excited to welcome Dr. Edward to our FMS team and know that he will be an asset to our school and community.
