Principal's Message

We are so excited to see our kiddos back on campus! This year, we are striving for excellence in everything we do—academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, with the support of our families and community, we know we can provide the very best experiences for our students. We look forward to building strong partnerships and working hand in hand to ensure every child thrives. Here’s to an amazing year ahead!

Current Announcements

TODAY!!!!!!

Join us today!!!! Meet your child's teacher, drop off supplies, and provide your child's teacher with updated and correct contact information. To better prepare for the first day of school, your child's teacher will also ask you to let him or her how your child is getting home from school each day.

We have only two entrances. The doors on the right (East Wing) are for grades Pre-K - 3rd. Classroom rosters will be posted inside that breezeway on the wall. The doors on the right (West Wing) are for grades 4th - 8th. Classroom rosters will be posted on the wall in that breezeway.

We will not have any rotations, as we do for Back to School Nights, which will be held on September 10th and 12th. At 3:00, please locate your child's classroom and report to meet the teacher. If you have multiple children, you will have to meet all of their teachers within the one-hour period.

First Days of School Procedures!!!

Our 1st - 8th graders begin school tomorrow, August 10th!!

Kindergarten students will stagger in for the first few days. Teachers of those students should have made contact with you to let you know your child's return date. Pre-K students do not report on Monday. There is a Mandatory Parent Meeting on Monday at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Parents will be escorted to the appropriate teacher's classroom.

We are moving back to the cafeteria for breakfast this year. Please make sure your child arrives at school on time, especially if they need to eat breakfast. Students will have a very short period to eat breakfast so they can arrive to class on time.

Arrival Procedures

Students may begin arriving to campus at 7:40 AM. Once students arrive on campus, they may report to the cafeteria for breakfast. Kindergarten - 4th grade students will report to the East Cafeteria. Pre-K teachers will escort their class to breakfast each day. 5th - 8th grade students will report to the West Cafeteria for breakfast.

Students arriving by bus, will arrive on the campus in the back of the school and be escorted to their appropriate building.

Students arriving by vehicle, should be dropped off in the front of the school ONLY. Parents should pull in the driveway nearest the school building and drive in the designated lanes around the cones. Please make sure your students follow guidelines given to them and wait for someone to open their doors. Students will be directed to the breakfast line and then immediately to their classrooms.

Please do not drop your child off on W. 70th St. in traffic or in either of the turn around locations at the end of the school. Parents are prohibited from the bus ramp in the back of the school. For safety reasons, please do not enter the back parking lot.

Due to safety concerns, parents will not be able to enter the classroom hallways under any circumstances.

Dismissal

Students will be place in classrooms as we dismiss. Parents will not be able to walk up to the campus to get child from any area other than the designated areas for walkers.

All bus riders will leave their classrooms and be escorted to the back of the school for dismissal.

All car riders will be placed by grade-levels in rooms on the 1st floor and escorted to their vehicles. Families will utilize the same carpool number from last year. Families who are new to Turner will receive a new car tag. If you plan for your child to be a car rider, please complete the form below and we will assign your family a number. Students will be called by their car numbers (their names on the first week of school) and escorted outside to the appropriate lane. Please make sure you help your child learn the car tag number as it will expedite the process.

We ask for your patience in advance for carpool during the first few weeks, as we move between 600 - 700 students through carpool each afternoon. Please do not get out of your vehicle to get your child, as you will not be allowed to break in front of those parents who are in line. This is a process but it works great once students learn their numbers.

Carpool Registration for New Families

Registration

All registration is to be completed online. All students who are not registered by the August 7th, will need to report to the auditorium on the first day to complete registration. We ask that parents accompany them to expedite the process, in case there are missing documents.

Parents, take a moment, if you have not already done so, and download the new JCAMPUS App. You can stay connected to the school and your teacher even if your phone number changes. Reports will only be available digitally through JCampus.

Together We Can TACkle Truancy, Attendance, and Climate

Dear Families,

Welcome to a brand-new school year! We’re so excited to see our students back in the building, ready to learn, grow, and shine.

This year, our school will continue to be a part of a special pilot program focused on attendance, school climate, and building strong connections. Why? Because every day matters. Even just two missed days a month can add up to weeks of lost learning time by the end of the year. We have tremendous gains last year with attendance!

Here’s how we’ll support strong attendance:

  • Warm welcomes every morning so students start the day feeling seen and valued
  • Quick check-ins if your child is absent to make sure they’re okay and help with any barriers
  • Celebrating students and classes with great attendance
  • Partnering with families to problem-solve if challenges come up

You can help by:

  • Making sure your child arrives on time each day
  • Scheduling appointments outside of school hours when possible
  • Letting us know right away if your child is sick or needs support

Together, we can TACkle Truancy, Attendance, and Climate — and set every student up for success. Thank you for partnering with us to make this the best year yet!

Sincerely,

Dr. Darrell Webb, Principal
