Dear Penn-Delco Community,

As we kick off the 2025-2026 school year, I want to extend a warm back-to-school welcome to all students, families and staff. The first week is in the books, and we like what we see! Every new school year brings opportunities for learning, growth, and reconnecting with classmates and friends.

This edition of our district e-news highlights some exciting updates: the BusPatrol safety program to reduce illegal car passings when buses are stopped, our refreshed mobile app to keep families connected, and an updated Portrait of a Graduate, our framework for the real-life skills every Penn-Delco student develops.

Over the summer, we made some interior updates at Northley Middle School and Sun Valley High School, including fresh colors, improved lighting, and new flooring. Some work is ongoing (pardon our appearance!), but we’re excited for families to see the progress - and we’re thrilled about the new soft-surface playground at Pennell.

I encourage families to stay connected by reading newsletters from principals, following the district, schools and PTL groups on social media, and checking our online calendar at www.pdsd.org/calendar. These tools provide the most up-to-date information for all events and activities.

Thank you for your continued support. Together, we ensure Penn-Delco is a place where every student can grow, succeed, and explore their talents. I’m excited to see all that this year will bring!

Keeping you in the loop,

Dr. George Steinhoff

Here Today, Ready for Tomorrow: Why School Attendance Matters

Being in class every day helps students stay on track, build friendships, and feel a sense of belonging. Even a few days missed each month can add up fast. Let's keep attendance a priority!

Schoology & Skyward

Schoology is our student learning system that has your student's courses and groups as well as assignments and grades (secondary schools). Elementary school teachers also communicate and list assignments in Schoology (not grades). There is a parent log in for Schoology to track your student's assignments etc.

Skyward is our student information system where you will find personal information including contact information, attendance details, report cards, and emergency contacts. If you would like to alter any information in Skyward, please contact your school secretary.

Free & Reduced Meals

Penn-Delco offers healthy meals through the School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program. Eligibility based on household size and income.

Optional Device Insurance

To help parents avoid surprise repair costs, Penn-Delco offers an optional low-cost device protection plan. Insurance for middle and high school Chromebooks is $23 per year.
