Message from the Superintendent
On behalf of the Berryessa Union School District’s Board of Trustees, we are proud to welcome back all of our wonderful students, families and staff to the 2019-2020 school year. A new school year represents a fresh new start, filled with dreams, hopes, and opportunities.

We would like to give a shout out to all of our administrators, teachers, staff and parent volunteers who helped prepare our schools for a positive start. It is exciting to see our classrooms, hallways
and courtyards once again buzzing with joy and activity. Our students are the driving force that moves us and the
focus of all of our efforts. 
We would especially like to welcome those who are new to our District and community! We invite you to get involved, participate, and become our partners in building the pathway to a successful future for every one of our students!

We are welcoming many new staff members to our team this fall. Whether you are in a new leadership position, or have joined or moved to a new school or District department team, we wish you all a successful and exciting new year. Staff Welcome Event
On August 12, we held our annual district-wide “Welcome Back Kick-Off” event to get the school year off to a great start! It was a wonderful opportunity for staff to reconnect, get energized with BUSD pride, and to celebrate the beginning of the new school year! 

An important theme of our gathering was “social emotional learning” and creating a culture of achievement for everyone. We also had the opportunity to hear from our bright and enlightening students in a special video prepared for this event:
We want to thank our Board of Trustees and union association leaders for sharing many inspiring and motivational messages during this event. We also had a fantastic raffle made possible by each school’s PTA team in partnership with the North Valley Council PTA who put together such fantastic and helpful school items for our teachers and staff! This was an event to remember! Our thanks to all!

New and Improved Facilities
Over the summer, Berryessa Union has made significant progress on several capital improvement projects.

Here is a list of projects that we have undertaken to enhance student and staff safety, and create a better learning environment for all:

  • Earthquake hazard inspections for all sites were completed.
  • Panel washing of solar panels for all sites.
  • New cafeteria tables for several school locations.
  • Deep cleaning custodial services throughout the District.
  • Field restoration at Northwood, Vinci Park, and Morrill Middle School.
  • New furniture for several of the most recently completed FIS projects has arrived and the Toyon FIS is now up and running.
  • Morrill Middle School had 11 new picnic tables assembled and floor mounted.
  • Piedmont Middle School has a newly paved front parking lot now.
  • New striping and playground walls are in the process of being completed.

Please join us in thanking all of those community members who voted for key bond measures that have made these important improvements possible!

Student Welcome - Middle School WEB

To all of our students, we look forward to welcoming you back to school! This is going to be an amazing school year of new learning and friendships. We are excited to meet our new TK and Kindergarten students and watch you grow.

To our students transitioning to middle school, we are here to support you! You are already ahead of the game by attending WEB day to learn your new middle school IS “where everybody belongs!”

When in doubt, just ask a WEB leader for help. They will not let you down. Looking forward to meeting you!
