Welcome Back!

The 2019/2020 school year is off to a great start at Transfiguration Academy. We've welcomed returning families, new parents and students, and even five new teachers. Allow us to introduce the newest members of our faculty:

Liza Fernandez is our new Pre-K3 teacher. She graduated from the City College of New York in 2002. Her first teaching experience was with special needs students in a private school in Waldwick. "This experience stuck with me through my career changes and eventually inspired me to pursue my dreams of teaching," said the mother of three boys. "Ten years ago, I was a stay-at-home mom and homeschooled my first and second born. It was then that my love for teaching flourished." Two years ago, she went on to earn a master's degree in elementary education from Grand Canyon University online.

Melissa Earnhart is our new first-grade teacher. She graduated from Montclair State University with a bachelor's degree in Education. She has been working with children most of her life, as her siblings are eight and 10 years younger. From an early age, her favorite game was to be the teacher and make her friends the students. Ms. Earnhart's professional career started with substitute teaching in 2006. She has taught kindergarten, first, second and fourth grades over the past six years. She said she considers this "a blessing" because she knows what the students need to learn to be successful in future grades.

New third-grade teacher  Paula Tate graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas College with a degree in English. She is certified in elementary education and middle school language arts. She has worked in Paterson Public Schools as a literacy intervention tutor and fourth-grade teacher. She has also worked in the Alpine Public School District and Northvale Public School District as instructional and special education support. She and her family are members of Immaculate Conception Parish in Norwood.

New fourth-grade teacher  Leslie Sender began teaching in 1990. She has previously taught fourth and fifth grades, as well as pre-kindergarten. Mrs. Sender received her master's in education from Fordham University in 2002.

Candice Ramdath, Transfiguration's new social studies teacher, has her master's in childhood education and a master's in educational administration and leadership, both from Long Island University. She has close to 20 years teaching in both the public and private school sectors. Her last position was that of a high school assistant principal. When she is not teaching, she is devoting her time to her husband, two daughters and their dog, Gunner.

Registration is ongoing :
