Jasper Offering Two Community Schools

This school year, 2022-2023, Jasper County School District is operating two K-12 Campuses. There is a K-12 Campus in Hardeeville and a K-12 Campus in Ridgeland. In other words, Jasper County School District offers community schools. To culminate this transition, each K-12 Complex received new lettering to properly identify each K-12 Campus and its schools.

Read to Succeed - S.C. Code Ann. §59-155-160 (2014) of Act 284 States

A student must be retained in the third grade if the student fails to demonstrate reading proficiency at the end of the third grade as indicated by scoring at the lowest achievement level on the state summative reading assessment that equates to Not Met 1 on the SC Ready assessment. Those students enrolled in third grade during this school year will be affected by these mandatory retention requirements.

Dedicated Professional Educators Doing Extraordinary Things

Mrs. Paige Elmore, Director of Special Education, and Mrs. Melissa Lane, Special Education Coordinator and Instructional Coach, from the first day of school, July 25, 2022, have stepped up and ensured all Special Education classes had a certified teacher providing instruction to the scholars. In the event that a certified teacher wasn't available or had not yet arrived, Mrs. Elmore and Mrs. Lane taught the class. Ensuring that the best educational opportunity is provided to all students, Mrs. Elmore and Mrs. Lane, stepped up to Superintendent Anderson's request and opened another 3-4 year old SPED class on the Hardeeville Campus. Previously, the district only offered one class and it was on the Ridgeland Campus. Now, both the Ridgeland and Hardeeville Campuses serve 3-4 year old SPED students.

CATE Advisory Board Drop-In

The Jasper County CATE Center is continuing the development of our CTE Advisory Board. We are in the process of selecting individuals with industry knowledge and experience to assist in improving our CTE Programs. We are seeking advice and assistance from key partners to keep our state-approved programs relevant.

We would like to invite you to become a member of the CTE Advisory Board. We are looking for individuals to serve on the Advisory Board for at least two years and meet a minimum of four times per year. You may also choose to serve on one of Program Advisory Committees, which meets two (2) times a year. The purpose of the advisory committee is to provide assistance and recommendations for the continuous improvement of career and technical education programs at JC CATE. Please see the enclosed materials for additional information about our programs.

We are having a CTE Advisory Board Drop-in on August 25th for local businesses to learn more about what we offer here at JC CATE, meet our staff and students, and tour our CATE Center. We excitedly anticipate your presence and look forward to working with you in the future.
