May 2020
Friends,

As of Friday, May 1, 2020, Lake Oconee Eye Care welcomed back the community for all eye care services. The doctors and staff members are wearing masks, and all patients and guardians or those assisting patients are required to have their temperature taken by a non-contact digital thermometer upon arrival before entering the building. Walk-in patients needing assistance with frames and adjustments are also required to check-in with a staff member and have their temperature taken prior to entering the building. All Lake Oconee Eye Care visitors are asked to wear a mask before entering the building. We ask that if you have one of your own that you please bring it so our supply doesn’t run out, but if you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you.

To keep the number of people in the office to a minimum, we ask that unless you are the parent or guardian of a minor or require assistance getting into the building, please do not bring others to your appointment, or have them wait in the car. Frames are cleaned with hydrogen peroxide between every patient who tries them on, and we are using the highest level of sanitary measures at our disposal for your protection. We are following all CDC guidelines for your safety as well as that of our office personnel and doctors. We look forward to serving you during this unprecedented time in our history.

Men and women might not come from different planets, but there are certainly a lot of differences between the two — even with eye health.

Women, unfortunately, tend to be more vulnerable to a number of eye diseases, even if they are less likely than men to sustain a sight-threatening eye injury over the course of their lives. So what can they do to protect their eyesight?

Most patients do not know that your eye examination is almost always covered under your regular medical insurance.  If you have any of the following conditions, then your eye exam is covered under your regular medical insurance: itching eyes, burning eyes, watering eyes, dry eyes, red eyes, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes, floaters, crusting eyes, mucous, or mattering eyes.  Look at your insurance card to see what your office visit copay is, because it could be as low as $10.00.
