MENTORING ROAD MAP| Let Us Know What You Think!

The Mentors, Inc. @ Kid Power team has been busy this year, creating a new Mentoring Road Map tool to support our matches in building relationships, setting and reaching goals, and navigating the mentoring relationship. The new Mentoring Road Map will have four milestones: academics, career exploration, civic engagement and personal development.

We've built a site just for our matches, full of conversation starters, tools, links, activity ideas and more! You will also be able to easily access links to schedule your monthly check-in call, sign up for MI @ KP events, log your mentoring hours, and view our newsletter! We have also set up a Google Classroom for you all to document your mentoring journey.

This month, we are officially launching our new Mentoring Road Map! Keep an eye out for opportunities to explore the new MRM with staff. Thank you to everybody who provided feedback! We are continuing to make edits, so please continue to let us know what you think! To access the Google Classroom and explore interactive tools, head to classroom.google.com and enter classroom code fivb7xx.

Please contact Kaitlin Ewen, program director MI@KP with any questions or concerns at kaitlin@kidpowerdc.org or 202.227.8961.

SAFETY REMINDERS FOR IN-PERSON MEETINGS

As the pandemic continues, we continue to encourage you to follow public health guidelines for all in-person meetings with your match. As more people are able to receive the vaccine, this includes CDC guidelines for maintaining safety after vaccination, including limiting contact and continuing to wear masks indoors and practice social distancing if you are not yet vaccinated. It is also important that mentors, protégés and parents/guardians check-in about safety boundaries prior to all in-person meetings. For many matches, it has been helpful to start a group text to plan and confirm any in-person meetings.

As we return to more in-person activities, we encourage matches who feel comfortable, to plan activities with their matches. In-person requirements for matches are still suspended. We do expect to reevaluate in-person requirements in October 2021.

Reach out to your staff contact if you have any questions or concerns about meeting in-person with your match or for help coming up with virtual activities to connect.
