Welcome Back Advisers!
Greetings!
August 1, 2019
Welcome Back!

I hope your summer was restful and enjoyable, even if it wasn't quite long enough!

The 2019-2020 National FBLA-PBL theme – “A World of Opportunity" - is a fitting reminder and inspiration to all who provide leadership training and programs to the eager youth who fill our daily lives.  We know you will look forward to embracing the multiple CA FBLA opportunities heading your way!

On behalf of the CA FBLA Board of Directors, I want to thank you for the hard work, dedication and unfailing support you give to our student members every day, week after week, year after year. You are truly creating a lasting impact in the world by shaping the leaders of the future!

Your Board looks forward to engaging with you at upcoming conferences, and to providing the industry support you need to help your chapter thrive. Best wishes for an outstanding 2019-20 school year!

Sincerely,

Donnette Silva Carter, Chair
CA FBLA Industry Board of Directors
CA Shines at NLC in San Antonio
The students that represented California at NLC did an outstanding job! A total of 95 students won spots on the stage in 52 of the events. Not only did they have a bunch of trophies to pack for the trip back home, they won over $25,000 in individual prize money!

We are proud of all of their accomplishments and look forward to seeing them reach their individual goals and contribute great leadership skills to CA FBLA and future endeavors!
State Officers Ready to Roll for 2019-2020
The State Officer team has been meeting via teleconference, summit, and all sorts of media to build on their plans for CA FBLA and the coming school year. The team was hard at work and full of creativity at their Leadership Summit. We look forward to their new ideas, focus and boundless energy! Stay tuned!
A Message From Your CA FBLA State Adviser
Welcome to the 2019-20 School Year! I hope your summer was the perfect combination of rest and accomplishment. As we gear up for another successful FBLA year I want to bring a few things to your attention. First, I am excited to inform you that CA FBLA has been awarded $51,640 in Cy Pres (Visa) grant funds through the National FBLA Office. These funds are intended to be spent educating youth on financial literacy development and only available for the 2019-20 school year . Please take a look at our Financial Literacy Plan  and familiarize yourself with the prospects! There are numerous opportunities for YOU, as advisers, to bring financial literacy learning to your students and your classroom – some are attached to financial rewards for YOU. Our very own, Sue Christensen (current Communications Manager and Webmaster) will be working as the Financial Literacy Project Coordinator. Look for communication to come from Sue directly. In the meantime, I welcome any questions you may have.

On August 1, 2019, the FBLA National Website will launch with a new look and new procedures. At the time this announcement is being written we haven’t received all the details. However, please know that things will be a changing ! To activate your account, advisers will need to complete a profile (the chapter number and “service” password will no longer work). In addition you will be routed to a link for the CA FBLA 2019-20 Affiliation Agreement. This is part of our new normal. An affiliation agreement will be required at the beginning of each school year with a due date of September 30. The affiliation agreement can easily be completed via computer or smartphone. Questions? Just ask! Here’s a link to the agreement form:  FBLA Affiliation Form 2019-20

On a personal note – I have been in the office this summer, but will be gone August 7-14. I know that timing is not ideal with the start of school, but I am traveling to the DC area for my son’s Marine OCS graduation. So, the dates were not flexible. Feel free to fill my inbox, but know that I won’t be able to respond until after the 14 th . Thank you for understanding.

Have a great start to your school year. I hope to see you at FBLA events. As always, if you have a question or concern, I am just an e-mail or phone call away.

Regards,

Molly
