Dear Johnson Campus Lycée Families,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year, one that will be memorable for many reasons. During these unique and challenging times, I have deep admiration and appreciation for you all. It is no simple task navigating work obligations and your child's education while keeping everyone healthy and safe. Thank you for finding creative and community-minded solutions to ensure a great start to the new school year!
In this time of facing computer screens all day, it was such a pleasure for me and the whole Johnson staff to see students and parents at the Meet & Greet events over the past week. Thursday and Friday were inspirational first days of school with incredibly high attendance rates. Teachers were thrilled to greet their students and there was so much excitement being together "at" school in every virtual classroom.
We thankfully have an amazing group of teachers with the Lycée Johnson team this year. Thank you, families, for warmly welcoming our new community members and supporting them as they learn more about our school, city, and country, all in the middle of a pandemic. The Upper Elementary Team is rolling full steam ahead as all teachers are cleared for work, thus, 3rd-5th grades should see no interruption for the start of school. We are so thankful many of the new Middle/High School teachers were able to join us for Meet and Greet with orientation activities, several of them are now moving to and transitioning to life in New Orleans. We anticipate our new teachers being ready for full time teaching the first week of September. Please check your email for specifics on which teachers will begin their courses with this short delay.
On behalf of the entire Johnson faculty: thank you for your support of the school and your child's continued French education, we will make it a safe and strong year together.
