BHA Principal's Update
Assalamu Alaikum Dear BHA families,

Thank you for the grace and support you have given us during this challenging time. We understand that many families are excited to return to campus, while some prefer the virtual learning environment. While here at Bright Horizon Academy we have strived to ensure students return safely, we also want to promote a world class learning environment for all students.

We are excited to announce that we are preparing for our Phase 2 re-opening of our Middle School/High School campus on Tuesday, May 18th Insha'Allah. Upon return from our Ramadan/Eid break, we have decided to make Monday, May 17th a live/zoom only learning day for our students, to allow our Staff and school a day of final preparation ensuring our students are welcomed back to a safe and clean environment. BHA has adopted the Concurrent Learning Model for a wide spread return to our AG campus. Here is a summary of the Concurrent Learning Model:

All instruction within the Concurrent Model is done by the teacher to two groups at the same time. Some students will be on campus in small groups, learning in-person and some will be at home learning virtually. All students are either on campus or learning virtually. The Concurrent Model keeps students and teachers together. We request that all MD/HS students bring their electronic devices to class.

Our current master schedule will have a slight change in time to accommodate families with students at both campuses-creating more consistency for our students, staff and families.
Students returning to campus will remain in the same cohort and classroom while only their Teachers will transition between classes.

On Fridays, all students will learn online through live Zoom sessions continuing the same schedule as M-Th. We are shifting our days of instruction to be in line with our elementary campus in order to help families with multiple children.
As we prepare for this shift, we will institute a phase-in process to create an environment that promotes success and safety for all students and staff members.

Within the coming weeks, we will send you information specific to the Concurrent Learning Model through Jupiter Ed. Please refer to those emails to help guide you as we transition into our Phase 2 Hybrid Model Insha'Allah.

Again, we appreciate your support very much. Together, we will bring back students to campus in a safe manner and ensure a learning environment that supports each and every student at Bright Horizon Academy.

We have included an updated version of our Re-entry Plan for your reference. We look forward to this new learning phase and working with both in person and virtual groups. May Allah reward you for your support, your patience, and your grace as we work together to offer in-person learning at both campuses while continuing to simultaneously offer our Virtual Learning Academy for our virtual only learners.

"RAMADAN MUBARAK from Kindergarten Class! I want the Kindergarten virtual students Afrah, Ayesha, Faaris, Maryam, Mumtaaz, Rayan, Zaki, and Zubair to know that I am so proud of you for doing an amazing job, Masha'Allah!

Love, Ms. Munira"

"This week's teachers note is dedicated to Malak and Zuka. Malak is a wonderful student. She's dedicated to her studies and completing her work in the best possible manner Masha'Allah. She is always committed to do better and improve. I am so proud of your hard work and I wish you much more success going forward. Zuka is showing excellence in ELA and Math by turning in work full of quality, Masha'Allah. Keep up the great work Zuka!"

-Ms. Asma

"I have two special kiddos that I would like to mention. The first is Yousuf Al-Aqrabi. He is such a kind soul, Masha'Allah. Anyone, anywhere who needs a helping hand-Yousuf is there. He is genuinely so nice-Masha'Allah. Every time I think about his kindness, my heart is filled with love. He doesn't put anyone down even when he knows that has something better or is very skilled. He always encourages his friends and doesn't just care about winning. We are so lucky to have Yousuf as part of 3rd grade.

My next shining star is Mohammed Zayd. Mohammed is always ready for a challenge. I love that he tries his best in everything. But the best thing of all is his honesty. He is very trust worthy, Masha'Allah. He works independently and completes all his assignments BEFORE 3:00 PM EVERYDAY! Mohammed keep shining!

I would like to also say that I am so blessed to have such a kind and respectful group of 3rd graders. I want to put all of your names here because YOU DESERVE IT - but I also want to highlight only some at a time because it's just more special."

-Ms. Saima

News from our PTO...
Ramadan is a time for increased ibadah. Along with your daily prayers and fasting, increasing ibadah can be giving more charity, reciting more Quran, taking time to self- reflect and perform extra good deeds. As Muslims, we are recommended to perform more of these actions during this holy month to receive the maximum blessings, rewards and forgiveness.

We have attached Ibadah charts for the students and parents to encourage everyone to increase their ibadah during this month.

There are three charts attached.
1. Elementary (beginner level activities)
2. Middle School (intermediate level activities)
3. High School and Parents (empty chart to customize according to personal goals)
