GARFIELD PTSA NEWS

Thank you & Farewell to many of our GHS PTSA volunteers…

Cliff Meyer
 – GHS Communications: A long time GHS PTSA member, he was tremendously dedicated to providing timely, accurate, helpful and often otherwise difficult to find information to GHS families via the eBark, the GHS PTSA website and social media. Cliff was also invaluable to the GHS PTSA day to day business with his wealth of historical GHS PTSA knowledge as well as details, data and interesting SPS info too.

Katrina Hawking – Annual Fund Lead: A consistent volunteer who gave years of support, ensuring the GHS PTSA Annual Fund efforts stayed on track and raised as much money as possible.

Michael Pickett – as the 2024 Annual Fund Co-Chair he played an big part in broadening the AF fundraising scope which lead to meeting an ambitious AF goal in 2024-25. As 12th grade Parent Rep, he increased family engagement and helped with recruiting new PTSA volunteers.

Parry Schmeichel – Co-Treasurer – a PTSA can’t much without money! Parry gave two years to planning the PTSA budgets as well as tracking income and expenditures – keeping all the money parts in excellent order and maintained important CBO partnerships.

Melissa Englund – Co-Secretary: kept us PTSA folks prepared, organized and connected!

Roxane Geller – Co-Secretary: creating minutes, taking notes and ensuring conversations and meetings were properly recorded for all of time.

Bill Brewster – Parent Rep, Building Leadership Team – as one of the Parent Reps on the BLT, Bill played a critical role as a liaison between the PTSA and GHS staff/administration. Built a strong partnership and established a open line of communication, ensuring that the needs and capabilities of both groups were clear and ensuring everyone knew how the PTSA could best and realistically respond to the needs and wants of GHS students, teachers and staff.

Mollie Huppert – GHS Sports Boosters: One of three people who stepped up to revitalize the GHS Athletics Booster Club, broadening awareness across all GHS athletics and established a strong organizational foundation which will help the program thrive.

A huge thank you to all of the folks who volunteered in any PTSA role, the work we do is incredibly important and it isn’t possible without everyone working together

10th & 12th Grade Families - Parent Reps Needed!

Adult volunteers (2 each from 10th and 12th grades) wanted to organize quarterly, grade level social events for parents/caregivers. NOT time consuming or expensive. Pick a location (restaurant, bar, coffee shop), set a date and PTSA will get the word out. Events are non-hosted, so individual attendees purchase their own food/beverages.
