Dear Bet Torah Family,
I am thrilled to bring good news regarding our Interim Cantor Search. Last night our Board of Directors approved the recommended contract with Cantor Gil Ezring to serve as our Interim Cantor, beginning July 1.
We are excited to welcome Cantor Ezring as Bet Torah’s interim cantor for 2020-2021/5780-5781. Cantor Ezring comes to us from Congregation Beth Judea in Long Grove, IL, the same
that Rabbi Brusso attended in his teen years. In addition to serving as
, leading the congregation in prayer, Cantor Ezring taught in the religious school, oversaw the B’nai Mitzvah program, empowered congregants of all ages to read Torah and participate in services, interfaced with Sisterhood and Men’s Club, and led the synagogue band. He also is a singer/songwriter and composer of contemporary Jewish music and has been innovating musically since his youth in North Carolina. What a great fit for Bet Torah!
We look forward to Cantor Ezring’s leadership in person, on Zoom, and in the various ways congregants will connect with Bet Torah in the coming months. Please watch for information in early summer about welcoming Cantor Ezring to our community.
Many thanks to our Interim Cantor Search Committee led by Mindy Hermann Zaidins and Susan Katz Truwit, and including Nili Ionascu, Hayley Kupperman, Mitch Portnoy, Mike Rosenman, Antony Schwartz, Abby Siegel, Susan Cohen Silberman, Meredith Tanowitz, and Joshua Winograd.
