Hello! My name is Denise Sears, and I am honored to join the dynamic team at Supplies Over Seas as President and CEO. I am deeply passionate about our amazing work which is improving the quality of life for children and families locally as well as those living in developing nations across the globe. The extraordinary impact we have both on our environment and on the health of so many people makes Supplies Over Seas a vital organization not only to Louisville, but to the world at large. I am humbled by our mission and in awe of the incredible dedication of our staff, volunteers, supporters and partners.
I am excited to bring my extensive business experience to support growth and excellence at Supplies Over Seas. I have worked in corporate finance and operations, and served many years as CEO of a successful marketing company. My career path changed four years ago when I experienced the personal tragedy of the death of my daughter. I adopted the personal mission to help prevent other mothers from suffering the heart break of losing a child and left the corporate world to dedicate my career to non-profits focused on saving lives.
Supplies Over Seas is "delivering a world of health and hope" by matching our medical supplies and equipment surplus to the needs of those living in medically underserved communities. In the last two years, SOS has diverted 156 tons of excess supplies and equipment from landfills here in our community to hospitals and clinics in 96 different countries around the world. With over 5 million children dying each year in this world before their 5th birthday due to lack of health care, there is much for us to do.
I am deeply committed to advancing the mission of this amazing organization. I am doing it for our children, including my adopted 11 year old son, so they have a greener and healthier environment, and for the millions of children who are at risk of not seeing their 6th birthday.
