Halloween is right around the corner, which means it's time to carve the perfect pumpkin!
Here are a few tips to safely create your one-of-a-kind masterpiece and avoid injury according to our hand experts!
Pumpkin Carving Safety
Keep it clean. Your workspace, hands and tools should be kept clean and dry to avoid slipping and causing injuries.
Leave the carving to the adults. Let your children grab the goo on the inside and draw the pattern on the outside.
A sharp knife may not be best. They can become wedged in the pumpkin, and forcibly removing it can be hazardous.
Carving kits are great. These kits include small, serrated pumpkin saws less likely to get stuck in the thick pumpkin tissue.
Seek help for injuries. Minor cuts often stop bleeding after applying direct pressure with a clean cloth. However, seeking medical attention may be required if the bleeding doesn't stop within 15 minutes!
