Volunteer Opportunity: Bi-lingual Volunteer (English and Spanish)
We are in need of bi-lingual volunteers! Habitat needs volunteers who can help us translate and interpret with our Spanish-speaking volunteers and homeowners. We need a volunteer to come into our office about once a week to help return phone calls and discuss with any other Spanish speakers who may have reached out. If you or someone you know is interested, please fill out our online volunteer application (https://habitatbuilds.com/ovaf/) or email our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@habitat-tcp.org.

Habitat's 139th home dedication took place on February 20th.
During the dedication, Maria shared this heartfelt message:

"On behalf of my family, I want to thank you all for being here to celebrate and gather together here right now, in this moment that my boys and I will forever cherish. We have been blessed all around. Thank you to all of the Habitat for Humanity [office, store, and construction] staff and volunteers. You Guys Rock! Tyson Foods who showed up and helped with sweat hours. Thanks to all who showed at the construction site. God Bless you all. No matter heat, rain, snow, cold conditions you all were here no questions asked. This is an awesome community I am glad to be a part of. Thanks for teaching me that anything is possible, not to give up, those words were felt and kept me going. Juggling work, children, and completing 500 sweat hours well it wasn't easy, but totally worth it. Why you might ask? Well because of all the people, strangers whom I crossed paths within this journey that now I can call family. You showed me that there is still good in people and anything is possible. I will forever be thankful, words can't express all these emotions I am feeling right now. I stand here and say I am officially a homeowner and it feels great.

On behalf of my family, God Bless each and everyone and your families. You all make this possible."

From their acceptance to the completion of 500 hours of sweat equity the future homeowner puts in, they can experience their own home as its built from the ground up and forge lasting bonds with the homeowners that will become their neighbors.

Tri-Cities
306 S Cedar Ave – 68% Complete. Estimated dedication date of April 24, 2021
304 S Cedar Ave – Trusses are going up, siding will begin soon. Estimated completion in June.
302 S Cedar Ave – Trusses were just delivered. Estimated completion in June.
204 & 206 S Cedar Ave – we expect to begin framing these homes this fall.
Volunteer Needs
Pasco Construction Site:
  • Monday - Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday
  • Crews start at 8:00 AM and end at 2:30 PM.
  • We need crew leads! If you are skilled in construction and willing to commit to leading a crew, please complete the volunteer application and let us know you are interested.
Walla Walla
Volunteer Needs
Walla Walla Construction Site:

  • We need crew leads! If you are skilled in construction and willing to commit to leading a crew, please complete the volunteer application and let us know you are interested.
SEA Tech will be completing the exterior work this month, while HFH volunteers begin the inside work of laying floors and installing doors, trim, and cabinets. Expected completion is in April.

For those with medical issues, 24-hour notice is needed to shop 8 AM to 9 AM.
Donation Drop-offs:
Located in the back of the building. Call the store at 509-943-1330 to confirm which items we are accepting.

Monday - Friday 10 AM - 4 PM
Saturday 10 AM - 3 PM
Donation Pickups:
To schedule a pickup, please call our donation hotline at 509-943-0222 and leave a message with your contact information and item details. One of our volunteers will get back to you within a week to schedule.
Volunteer Needs
Habitat Store:
  • Pick-up Scheduler (URGENT NEED!) - This position is a great way to immerse yourself in Habitat’s mission and really see how our work makes a change in the community. 

  • Listening to our pick-up request messages and reaching back out to either approve or deny their request based on their item(s)
  • Working closely with our Sales Floor Supervisor and our pick-up truck drivers to create a schedule
  • Skills desired:
~Computer efficient (email, Excel, and Word)
~Ability to take messages and respond in a timely manner
~Ability to create schedules for donation drop-offs at the store
~Available 2-3 times a week or a few hours daily

  • Cashier
  • Greeting customers as they enter the store
  • Answering questions about store items
  • Using POS system to complete transactions
  • Answering the store phone
  • Organizing the store

  • Warehouse Associate
  • Receives item donations at the back of the Habitat Store
  • Write tax receipts for donor
  • Process donations (cleaning, testing, etc.)
  • Move items to the sales floor
  • Assist customers by loading items into their vehicles
