Water/Sewer Project Update: Broadway/Leland
The Department of Water Management is updating the 110-year old sewer on Broadway from Wilson to Leland. This project is an economical way to maintain sewer piping by placing a curative lining inside of the existing pipes. The city identified this as a priority project in preparation for the heavier train use of the tracks being built above. Vibrations from the trains can damage these 110 year old brick sewers over time.
Broadway/Leland Construction Timeline:
Anticipated completion date: 3/31/16
Note: Completion of this project is weather-dependent - any heavy precipitation can slow down progress. There will be NO IMPACT on water service - this is purely sewer-related work.
Currently, the Department of Water Management is installing the new sewer liner (1-2 day process).
By next week, a "liner curing process" will be completed (2-3 day process).
By mid-March, DWM plans to begin replacing other sewer lines above the sewer project. Weather-depending, the project should be completed by the e
nd of March with a full break down and clean up construction site.
