Welcome Katie Brown, our new Director of Family Ministries!

We are delighted to welcome Katie Brown on board for the new position of Director of Family Ministries, which will be a key role in leading and expanding our children’s and youth ministries. Katie will be able to bring her passion for Christ and zest for life to encourage and empower children, teens, and their parents to grow in faith together.

Katie’s background has the perfect foundation for being our successful Director of Family Ministries. She was born and raised in Humble, Texas, and grew up going to First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood. She earned a degree in Elementary Education at University of Texas, and while studying, taught Sunday School at LiveOak Church in Leander, Texas. This experience led her to seek a calling into ministry.

Katie began her work in youth ministry at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Houston, Texas, where she worked for five years, and then proceeded to obtain a Masters in Youth Ministry from Austin Theological Seminary. While studying, she filled the role of Director of Youth Ministry at LiveOak Church. It was at LiveOak church and at seminary that Katie developed her interest and skills in overall Family Ministry programs. For the past year and a half, Katie has held the position of Youth Minister at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, and has worked closely alongside their Director of Family Ministries.

Katie desires to see the Kingdom furthered by caring for every member of the family of God. She wants to create a family ministry that equips every member of the family to grow in their faith in Jesus and engage in intergenerational relationships, experiences, and opportunities.

Katie’s start date will be Monday, October 4, and we plan to hold a welcome reception for her on Sunday, October 10. We know her joy and effervescent personality will be a huge hit with our community. Katie is excited and grateful to be joining the West University United Methodist Church family and looks forward to meeting all of you soon!

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24,25
