Here's a little bit about Matt and his inspiring path into fitness:
My name is Matthew Crowe, I am a AAPT/ NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Ski USSA certified ski coach. As a kid I competed in Ski Racing and then switched over to Slopestyle when I was in my teens. After school I joined the Waterville valley BBTS Freestyle program. Being part of such a competitive team helped me learn how to push myself and overcome huge obstacles, which helped prepare and lead me to compete on a national Level. My first year did not go as well as I had hoped. There were some hard falls as well as not completing clean runs. All of the traveling I had to do had a significantly negative impact on my fitness level and I also developed a food allergy. Combined, these things resulted in a lot of weight loss and loss in strength. I was determined not to let it stop me and wanted to be better and stronger than ever before!

I began to lift weights with a teammate and, at the time, I could not do more than 5 push ups. But, by consistently working out, pushing myself, and eating right I was able to build strength and start to gain my weight back which resulted in a exponential improvement in my performance. During the 2014-2015 season I was on the way up to becoming a sponsored athlete. I competed all over North America, including the X-Games course in Aspen, Colorado and was ranked 84th in the world.

After that season was over I was as motivated as ever, working out 5-6 days a week after work and whenever else I found time. When my ski training started back up I noticed a good amount of improvement. So much so that during the Revolution Tour contest in Copper Mt, Colorado I placed 14th overall, just missing the finals. Missing the finals motivated me more than ever and I was anxious to compete again. When the jumps finally opened up at Waterville  I was pumped up to hit them. On my fourth lap, not being fully accustomed to the weather and new jump, I decided to to do a Trick which resulted in a severe fracture to my left leg causing me to get surgery and miss the rest of the season. It felt like the world had just crashed down on me but I was motivated to give it another shot. After months of rehab and exercise I started my training again. Unfortunately, in December 2016 I re-injured my leg resulting in another loss of a season.

Disappointed and confused to how I should proceed I decided to just start working out on a more serious level and harder than ever before. I felt it was time to bring the passion I had for skiing into the fitness world. The more I learned about the different types of fitness, the more I fell in love with it. It was then when I decided to enroll in the American Academy of Personal Training where I learned how to conduct assessments, build complex programs, and build a good foundation in nutrition. Along the way I was able to train friends and family to reach goals that they never thought possible. Particularly pull-ups which is my favorite thing to teach!  This fueled my passion for fitness even more and helped me develop my own personal complex training program. After receiving my AAPT I completed my NASM certification a month later. In fall of 2016 I received a USSA coaching license and started coaching the following winter where it all began for me, Waterville valley, as a Freestyle ski coach. It was a great opportunity to spread some knowledge from my past experiences and give back to my old BBTS team and athletes!

Prior to the AAPT I had visited Soul.Train. to do a kettlebell class taught by Jonathan. I loved it so we kept in contact throughout the winter and spring. I started to sit in on some training sessions and started taking some Crazy 8's classes, which I love too!  The opportunity came to run a couple of classes so I took it loved it. There is such a great energy with all of the members here so I'm excited to say that I will be able to teach some of you in a class of my own!  I am very much looking forward to seeing and working with you to help you reach all of your fitness goals!!
