Celebrating Sandy and Her Leadership for 20 Years and Counting!

On Thursday, April 27th the Charles River Regional Chamber awarded Needham Community Council's Executive Director, Sandy Robinson, the 2022 Community Impact Award. The timing for this honor is perfect as May 1st marked Sandy's 20th year leading the Council!

Sandy is the consummate leader who dedicates her boundless energy, thoughtful creativity, and strategic problem solving to growing the Needham Community Council and making it the cornerstone of the community.

During the past two decades, Sandy oversaw the move to Hillside Ave., expanded the Council Thrift store and Food Pantry, created a medical equipment loan program, and launched Tablets & Tutors... to name just a few. And, we can't wait to see where she'll take us next!

Watch "20 Years Well Spent" to see all the value that Sandy has added and the lives she has touched in the Needham community. Thank you for getting us all through Sandy and cheers to many more years!!

ELL - English Language Learning

Walk and Talk for English Language Learners and Tutors

Dates: Thursday May 5, 19

and June 2 at 10 am

Location: Reservoir Trail, 500 Dedham Ave, Needham

The ELL corner of the Council has been busy preparing new tutors, pairing them with new students, and expanding its library and now taking the "act on the road!" Meet fellow English language learners and practice English while getting exercise and fresh air. All levels welcome!

This activity is for adults, but you are welcome to bring children along. We will walk for 40-60 minutes and return to our starting point.

Volunteers are Hearts 💕 in Bloom 🌷 !

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the Community Council! Whether it's unloading thousands of pounds of food or teaching English language, their efforts make a difference in the town of Needham every day.

To show our appreciation for all they do, we are treating our volunteers to a night of socializing, refreshments and a little planting fun on May 2nd and 3rd.

🚙 The Food Pantry Hits the Road 🚙

Wanted: Mobile Market Volunteer

Help your Needham neighbors by bringing the grocery store to their door!

We are looking for a volunteer on Friday afternoons for just one hour to pickup food from the food pantry and distribute it with our partner the Needham Community Farm at a Needham housing authority site.

The volunteer must have their own form of transportation and volunteer from 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm on Fridays. Interested? Use the link below and select "Food Pantry" as your area of interest or call the office for more information.

ELL - English Language Learning

Did you know the Council offers FREE English classes for adults? If you live or work in Needham, come meet with a tutor to improve your English skills.

Over 40 dedicated volunteers are currently meeting with learners and the number is growing! New volunteers have just completed training and will be matched with adult learners in the community.

We are looking to grow our team!

Are you interested in a volunteer opportunity that has a POSITIVE IMPACT on children's lives? Then consider becoming a trained CAP Prevention Specialist for the 2022-23 school year!

Help EMPOWER elementary-age children in Needham by TEACHING them skills that can keep them SAFE, STRONG & FREE. Comprehensive training is provided.

After attending training, volunteers present in teams of three in Needham classrooms.

Let us know you are interested!

Tablets and Tutors has been booming with business! Our beginning group on Tuesdays has learned so much and our new Thursday group is just beginning and has drawn quite a big crowd of fun learners!

Tablets are free for any older adult or income-eligible residents (over the age of 18). If you are interested in obtaining a tablet for yourself or someone you know, please call the office or use the link below:
