Durham Region
Migrant Workers Ministry
MWM is an Anglican expression of mission in action committed to caring for migrant farm workers through spiritual, practical, and social support. We provide services in Spanish and English for the workers to support them in Canada and help them live out their faith.
Migrant workers in Durham region primarily come from Central America and the Caribbean. Comprised mostly of Mexicans, many are not fluent in English nor aware of Canadian culture. They are in need of translators and assistance with life in Canada. Our goal is to bridge the gap between the local community and the workers. MWM is a family to them while they work away from home.

Significant connections have been made with social agencies, community services, local networks, Anglican parishes and other Churches in the local community to access programs and assistance that promote wellbeing for the workers.
In addition, activities and events, such as fiestas and health fairs, are organized by MWM. The working season can be difficult for a migrant worker. Not only is the job tough, but they are apart from their family and in a foreign culture. We help them bridge that gap by holding cultural nights and fiestas. This gives them a feeling of home and community. By having events open to participation by the local community, it allows the local community to learn of the workers’ home culture and strengthen community relationships.
We need your help.
The Migrant Worker Ministry is making a significant impact on the quality of life and spiritual care of the workers. We greatly appreciate your donations and volunteer time to sustain the ministry to the MWM in Durham region.
A $100,000 Matching Challenge Grant for 2022

A generous donor has offered a $100,000 matching challenge grant for all new and increased donations. That means for every dollar raised over last year’s amount, by an individual or parish, FaithWorks receives an extra dollar. We encourage you to make a special effort this year.

Doing a little more can make twice the difference.

FaithWorks Sermon or Presentation

By the Grace of God, parish life will begin to return to something like normal, a new normal, as 2022 progresses. More and more, our worship, programs and activities will be happening in person as well as on-line. In 2021, FaithWorks experienced spectacular participation in our parishes, 93% across the Diocese. I hope that in 2022 your parish FaithWorks activities and results will exceed last years so we can better help our ministry partners continue to offer food and shelter, support and care, direction and opportunity to so many vulnerable people.

To assist and inspire, you can arrange for a sermon, presentation or visit by representatives of our ministry partners, the Director of Stewardship Development, Peter Misiaszek, or me, by contacting the FaithWorks Speakers Bureau at
