Not a Typical Intern

Unlike many clinicans coming right out of school in their mid 20's, Doug has more life experience than a typical intern. Doug is a US Navy Veteran (combat), a former business leader, an elder in his church, and a dedicated husband and father. His variety of life experience contributes to his natural talent to work comfortably with different types of people.

During a successful career in the staffing and recruiting industries, Doug sensed God's direction to a new profession in counseling. Doug completed a Master's Degree in mental health counseling at Liberty University. He did well there. Then he served in community based agencies in Tampa Bay.

At Life Connections, Doug works well with children (ages 7 and older), teens, couples, families, and elders. He is especially suited to work individually with men in their 30's to 60's in counseling.

Doug integrates evidence-based practices with empathy, encouragement, and individualized care tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals.

He has particular interests in:

*trauma-informed care

*grief counseling

*relationship counseling

*veterans

*first responders.

Doug is honored to be part of the Life Connections Clinical Team. He is a FL registered mental health counselor intern (IMH29234) working towards his professional FL licensure.

As his Qualifed Supervior, Dr. Katherine McKinney (FL Licensed Psychologist PY7132) meets weekly with Doug for continued professional training.

Doug's fee is $90 per clinical hour.
