We are excited to announce our Community Pilot Projects for 2023-2024! These organizations are making a big impact in their respective communities and we are proud to support them in their community-engaged research projects.

Pillars Initiative

Stone Mountain, GA


Pillars Initiative is a non-profit organization based in Georgia that aims to enhance the well-being of underserved youth and emerging adults through education, service, and scholarship. Pillars will address the NAACFRC priority area of poverty alleviation in Dekalb County, explicitly focusing on single-parent families with teens aged 16-19.

Girassol Wellness

Atlanta, GA


Girassol Wellness, Inc. is a volunteer non-profit organization in Atlanta, Georgia with a longstanding commitment of serving African American women and children with lived experiences of poverty, homelessness and reduced access to health care services.They will address the NAACFRC priority area of poverty alleviation through ethnographic research methods to document the lived experiences of Atlanta residents who have been permanently displaced from their homes.
