Health & Wellness Policies

Hello New Families!

Children get sick, parents have busy schedules, and we as a school have to keep everyone as healthy as possible. Here is an abbreviated guide to our health and wellness policies. See our Parent Handbook for full details.

When will my child be sent home?

We will send your student home if they are unable to participate in classroom activities and have symptoms of illness. A child with one symptom, such as a headache or stomach ache, may rest for some time to see if they can return to class before calling a parent. Children with 2 or more symptoms and / or a fever are sent home.

Do we need a doctor's note to return?

Anything communicable-disease related requires a doctor's note. Here’s a “cheat sheet” of sorts of what you will need a note for:

Rashes

Anything Requiring Antibiotics

Sore throat (to be sure it’s not strep)

See full list in the Parent Handbook

We understand that pediatricians are not always able to see sick children right away, making receiving a note a difficult task. When that arises, we recommend walk-in minute clinics, like the kind available at CVS, for when your pediatrician is unavailable and you must confirm your child’s health for returning to school.

School Day Appointments

If your student arrives after 8:30 a.m. due to a doctor appointment, or leaves before 3:20 p.m., please call the office and let us know when you will be arriving to drop off or pick up your child. You will need to come into the office and sign them in and out of school after our doors lock. A faculty or staff member will assist younger grades students in joining their class and be sure your child is ready for pickup.

Preschool & Kindergarten Child Medical Statement

The Ohio Department of Education needs confirmation that your child is healthy and well! As such, they require we keep this doctor-signed, Child Medical Statement, on file here at school. Over 70% of our Early Childhood families have turned this in and are all set. Thank you! If you are one of the 30% who have not, please do so ASAP as your child cannot begin school without it.

Wondering about something you read in a previous new family email? You can read them here online and find all kinds of relevant info on the New Family section of our website! Call or email me anytime with questions.

Sincerely,
