Supporting a Media-Limited Environment at School

Hello Families of New Students!

A core principle of Waldorf education is honoring the gift of childhood—and one way we do this is by limiting media exposure and nurturing imagination within a supportive community.

We ask that families join us in this commitment by limiting children’s access to YouTube, social media, apps, video games, and television. By upholding this shared value, we help protect our children from age-inappropriate content and allow them to fully engage in creative play and learning.

To support this, we ask that media-branded items—such as clothing, backpacks, and lunchboxes with characters—stay at home. If you're unsure whether an item fits our guidelines (e.g., themed Legos or subtle character designs), we encourage choosing plain, simple alternatives.

We also ask families to seek screen-free entertainment at home that fosters imagination, movement, and engagement. Open-ended toys and plenty of outdoor play are wonderful ways to nourish your child’s development.

Thank you for partnering with us in creating a healthy and vibrant learning environment. Together, we can preserve the magic and joy of childhood.

Sincerely,

Rocky Lewis
