WELCOME NEW LIBRARY FOUNDATION MEMBERS!
|
|
The Redwood City Library Foundation is welcoming five new board members: Rick Hunter, Roshan Kalghatgi, Anna Lee Mraz Bartra, Rajan Narang, and Christopher Wyszynski. We are very excited to have these talented people on our team!
All of our board members invite you to Save the Date for our upcoming fall fundraiser. In recognition of Banned Books Week, the RCLF is holding an Upscale Pub Crawl (Pub-Libations) on September 21, 2022 from 5pm to 8pm. Ticket holders will start at the Downtown Library and stroll downtown to enjoy a discounted libation (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) at participating establishments. Each pub will feature a banned book with an RCLF board member present to answer questions.
In 1922, there were speakeasies – pubs serving banned beverages had to quietly let people know where they could share a drink. In 2022, we are making sure that libraries do not become the speakeasies for banned books.
"Banning books is banning stories, and banning people’s stories is banning people. Banning someone’s truth is banning their humanity." (Schuyler Bailar, Educator, Author, Advocate)
We hope you can join us on September 21 for an evening of fun that also supports the library. Click here to purchase tickets. Tickets purchased before September 1 receive an early bird discount and a commemorative t-shirt.
