Join us in welcoming the newest Office of Sponsored Programs team member, Brenda Simmons, Grants and Contracts Research Administrator. For grants and contracts acceptance and management of award, Brenda will be working with the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering, Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, Office of the President, and Student Affairs.
Brenda is a Research Administrator with over fifteen years’ experience. Her research administration career began at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute. After two years at Moffitt, working in research financial management, she accepted a position with USF in pre-award. Brenda provided support to Principal Investigators and administrative staff in proposal preparation and submission, budget development, contract negotiation, award execution in the financial system, and award management. Her expertise includes interpretation of agency guidelines and procedures, working as a liaison with federal and non-federal sponsors, assisting departments and colleges in complying with federal, state, and institutional rules and policies.
Brenda has experience facilitating training workshops, coordinating the internal awards program, coordinating the limited submission process. She holds a BS/BM degree from University of Phoenix and a MBA degree from Argosy University.
