Hearty Homestead and its partner, Hearty Homestead Tweed are our newest yarns at TKE. Both are 100% Peruvian Highland wool- same fiber as Galway and Homestead. These heavier weight yarns will work up at a bulky weight gauge of 3 sts =1". For the vest shown below the yarn lofts to 2.5 sts =1".

That makes for super FAST knitting!

Sophie's Scarf

Knit up this quick accent piece with the softest yarn you can find- DK or Worsted weight. Here we chose our new Easy Care Baby Alpaca Worsted in blue and Sea Isle Cotton in pink. We knit up these scarves in the larger size, with less than 1 hank of yarn, but you can use as little as 120 yards to make a small scarf that wraps your neck just once.

The Throwback by Andrea Mowry

This worsted weight cardigan is worked flat from the top down, seamlessly, except for the sleeves which are knit in the round. The top Fair Isle design is knit in solid accents or in a print shade yarn.

Julia's Throwback is underway!

She has added natural shade of Galway to the Noro Ito for the Fair Isle work.

Julia's choice for her own Throwback sweater: Galway Worsted in charcoal as the Main color, NORO Ito color 12- a light set of tans- as the accent color perhaps with bits of Burgandy or Natural Galway thrown in.

A similar choice of yarns, but in different colors. Galway Worsted is a wonderful main yarn for this sweater. NORO Ito is available in so many colorways and makes a terrific Fair Isle yarn.

Now for the biggest news!

As Julia begins this new KAL, she will also be starting a new class session on Friday mornings 10-12. That began January 6 along with the KAL.

Weaving 101

Monday February 6 & 13, 2023 

10AM-1:30PM

              $95.00 – 4 students max – will include instruction, handouts, use of loom, and yarn for this first project. Students will create a length of fabric that can be used as a table runner or scarf. Purchase a Cricket loom from us as a class attendee and get $20.00 off the price of the loom.
