Revolutionary Reading:
Maria Stewart's
"An Address -
African Rights & Liberty"

Revolutionary Reading is back again! In the times we are in, making sure that we are constantly reading (especially those texts & speeches that the powers that be would prefer we not) is one of the most important things we can do. Staying sharp, learning from the past and seeing connections between our struggle over time with others who want to explore these things is crucial!

This month, we will be reading Maria Stewart's "An Address: African Rights & Liberty." This speech is delivered in 1833 at The African Masonic Hall in Boston, MA.

Juneteenth Flag Raising
& Reception

Join the Black Heritage Committee for the 6th Annual raising of the Juneteenth Flag at the YWCA of Central MA. We will reflect on Juneteenth's meaning and significance in the times we are living in - 161 years after the reading of General Order No. 3 that declared enslaved people in Galveston, TX were "free," and should have been two and a half years prior.

After the raising of the flag, we will have a short reception with light refreshments in The Board Room of the YWCA. All with good intentions are welcome to join!
