A new school year has begun, which means new beginnings and a world of new possibilities for our local children. We hope you will take a few moments to read about some of the exciting things YOU are making possible at the Foundation of HOPE!

A Note From Our President

As we say goodbye to summer and students are returning back to school, I hope you found time to spend with family and friends.

The Foundation of HOPE was able to take the girls who completed the program this year on a summer trip to Hershey Park. This exciting trip is their reward for completing the program and exhibiting respectful behaviors during our career exploration trips outside of school. As graduates of our program, the girls are asked to model what they are being taught with positive actions while out in the community.

As we enter another school year, we are planning the groundbreaking ceremony for our HOPE Center next month. We are exited about our future, which would not be possible without donors and partners like each of you. Thank you for your generosity!

As you reflect on the past three quarters of 2025, I encourage you to make it an intentional goal to be kind every day and help others. Remember, everyone has a story, and it is not so much how your story begins but how it ends.

Thank you for joining us in transforming lives, one girl at a time.

Love and Blessings!

Foundation of HOPE Scholarship Recipients Start College!

Thanks to your generosity, we were awarded three Foundation of HOPE scholarships to participants from the third cohort of our Economic Development and Empowerment Program as they graduated from high school in May. Those three scholars have now started college!

Leilani Brooks is studying Nursing at East Carolina University. Sa'Mauria Ennals is also studying Nursing, and she is doing so at Towson University. Isabella Barrera is studying Intelligence and Security Studies at Coastal Carolina University.

All three are incredibly grateful to you for supporting them while in our program, and for helping to ease some of the financial burden of school so they can focus on pursuing their dreams.

Leilani shares, "My first college year at East Carolina University is off to a great start! I’m settling into my classes, meeting new people, and already learning so much. It’s been exciting to explore new opportunities and start building a strong foundation for my future."

She continues, "The support of the Foundation of HOPE means so much to me, and it serves as a daily reminder to keep aiming higher! Knowing I'm part of such an uplifting community inspires me to stay motivated. I look forward to sharing my journey with you as I continue moving forward."

Thank you for making this scholarship program possible. We are so proud of our HOPE Scholars, and look forward to continuing to follow them on their journeys to success!

Happiness in Hershey!

Our 2025 cohort graduates headed to Hershey Park this summer to celebrate the completion of our Economic Development and Empowerment Program! The program is a big commitment. Participants spend 16 weeks with us, learning a wide array of skills and information that will help them succeed in school and when they enter the job market. Our Hershey Park adventure was a well-deserved reward for all of their hard work and dedication. We are so proud of every one of these young women, and were thrilled for the opportunity to celebrate them as they completed our program with the knowledge and tools to go forth and achieve great things!

Congratulations Dr. Trudy Hall!

Please help us congratulate our amazing Board Member, Dr. Trudy Hall who was recently recognized by the National Medical Association as their Practitioner of the Year at their recent annual conference!

As we know firsthand at the Foundation of HOPE, Dr. Hall is an outstanding, unifying, and motivational leader. She received this award for her many achievements in the field of medicine, and the various leadership roles she has served in as a member of the National Medical Association.

Dr. Hall co-authored the first Health Disparity Bill for Maryland and chaired committees to address Health Equity. She was instrumental in the 2023 Trauma Bill to increase funding for Trauma Hospitals and served on the Trauma Commission to address care in rural and disadvantaged communities. Dr. Hall also served for 8 years as Commissioner of the Health Service and Cost Review Commission that established hospital rates in Maryland.

She has also served on the Advisory Board for Salisbury University and supports mentoring programs for minority students interested in healthcare.

During the Covid 19 Pandemic, Dr. Hall opened Maryland's 145 bed Covid Hospital. She also partnered with a local church for a vaccine clinic who administered over 50,000 vaccines in Prince Georges County.

Dr. Hall currently is the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for TidalHealth, a 3- hospital system on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Earlier this year, she hosted our students for a healthcare career day at one of her TidalHealth Hospitals, and inspired several of them to pursue careers in the health field!

We could not be more proud to have Dr. Hall on our Board of Directors and as a role model for the girls in our program. She is a true inspiration, and we are thrilled that she has been recognized for her incredible work!
