Summer's Final Encore!

2025 Annual All Staff Gathering

At Community Works, our dedicated staff is the engine that drives our mission of fostering fellowship, unity, and shared purpose through lived experiences. To celebrate their tireless work and commitment to justice, we recently held our annual All Staff Summer Gathering.

Co-Executive Directors kicked off the morning with announcements, followed by an engaging Restorative Activity led by our resident Restorative Specialists, dee and Kevin. This activity was designed to build a deeper connection and reinforce the principles of healing and community building that are central to our work. We also shared a get-well special video for our very own Jerry.

The highlight of the afternoon was our lively round of Team Building Activities, where staff members (including those who opted for games, art, or a park walk) embraced the spirit of collaboration and fun!

A huge thank you to our HR Manager, Gaby G., for coordinating and making this staff event such a success!

Mandala Activity

One activity to highlight from the Annual All-Staff Gathering was the Mandala Activity. The word “Mandala” loosely translates to “circle” and represents the universe in Buddhist symbolism. For this activity, staff members created their own mandalas using different pieces of nature.

“The intention behind this activity was to create something beautiful and then to just let it be, to be conscious of our impact on, and connection to our environment.” - dee Myers

This activity also challenges us to think deeply about the concept of attachment to the material world. Instead, the beauty lies in the journey/the process of creating these mandalas.

ProjectWHAT! New Cohort!

We are ecstatic to welcome our inspiring new cohort to the Fall program! Weekly programs officially started back up in September, with an official start day of September 18th, 2025.

The team is growing! This Fall, we proudly support 8 active youth advocates and 5 dedicated adult allies. A huge shoutout to the incredible PW Adult Allies—Oscar, Jakeala, Lhaga, JC, and Jaycia—for their ongoing dedication and energy! And we’re only getting started.
